Despite US efforts ISIS has learned to coexist within the US instead of perishing. The Islamic State was first started after the death of Zarqawi. Zarqawi was the man who formed Al-Qaeda which later created another organization called The Islamic State (ISIS). The Islamic State is known as a very violent organization. The reason being is because their actions within the organization is ruthless, they are willing to do anything to get their point across. With that being said the US has made it their initiative to stop the organization from causing havoc. The US has their own methods that are used to protect the well being of others from the wrath of the Islamic State (ISIS).Although opponents claim the US current method for combating ISIS is very effective, their methods are actually ineffective because Airstrikes can’t stop the spread of the Islamic State,Ground war would be too long and costly and ISIS is still able to get funded from within the US.

the spread of the Islamic State (ISIS). Although airstrikes has been known to be successful. It seems as if ISIS is still not getting affected by it at all. Let's cut straight to the point the US has been at war with ISIS for several decades. With every battle between ISIS and the US the Islamic states get stronger while the US gets weaker. For instance, when the US had retaken ⅓ of land taken by ISIS it shortened the Islamic State population. However, after that defeat by the US the Islamic state had 5,000 individuals join their organization for combat against not only the US but also Syria and Iraq.
ISIS is known to have spreaded across the Middle East. ISIS escalates its control within Syria and Iraq, now the Islamic State is occupying a large area of both Syria and Iraq (Richards). When it comes to the US things seem to be able to shift at any given moment. The usage of airstrikes had been known to be steady over the past year. On the other hand, between November and December the US had to increase their airstrike usages. It was recorded that the Air Force had dropped more than 3,100 bombs and missiles (Pawlyk). The reason being was that this was the time in which ISIS had attacked Paris. The outcome of ISIS wrath had killed 129 people. Since the attack on Paris airstrikes against ISIS have been stepped up by the Western powers (Bolton-Krol). Ground war would be too long and costly. The US has done about everything in their power to stop the Islamic State. Somehow gained nothing, ISIS is still able to instill fear in many individuals. Many people believe that the US involvement has made things worse within the Middle East. When it comes to combating ISIS the US has a strategy for combating called the Three-Point strategy. That in which is to be pursued to remove the threat of ISIS. The first point within the Three-Point strategy contains the slogan “Self Protect”. What occurs with following point one is simple. The US provides the necessary resources needed to provide protection for the US. By doing so they have connections with five or more organizations. These five or more organizations are: the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Coast Guards, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and finally and foremost the organizations involved in securing the border. All of these organizations play a significant role in the America’s safety. In Figure 1 below it shows exactly how much money the U.S has spent in the war against ISIS, including the amount of money used to pay for the protection of the U.S.
The second point deals with restoring stability where it is needed. This means making the Middle East the main priority. By doing so stopping the amount of turmoil going on within the Middle East. The US would like to think that they have control to do so but in all actually they don't Andrew Bacevich from Los Angeles Times said it the best. “...to occupy Iraq and Syria for a decade or more with a force of several thousand troops, this is not a task the US military can establish” (Bacevich). With that being said it a job that only the major regional powers can take on. The reason being is that in the Middle East if you are a caliphate (government) you are considered to be a threat. You contain so much power in your country that your people look up to you as their protector. You wouldn't have become a caliphate if they thought otherwise. Finally and foremost the third point is about creating change within the Islamic world. This means mentally and economically creating change. The objective is to persuade young muslims view of the US being a friend instead of an enemy. The way that works is for the the US to conduct a campaign in which we include cultural and educational exchanges. The Three-Point strategy seems to be making things worse. Making them worse to the point that President Barack Obama took the initiative to recruit nine allies to help in the defeat of ISIS. Those nine allies are Britain, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Italy and Denmark. Also including Saudi Arabia and they are in charge of funding Syrian rebel groups. By President Obama forming this strategy including theses countries and on top of that US militants; this is the type of costly foreign conflict that the US has been dealing with for many decades. Obama is implementing the same strategy in which was used to defeat Al-Qaeda. Even then with defeating Al-Qaeda it took the US a decade to actually win the battle. As the auS take “forever” in creating a successful victory ISIS gets stronger and keeps pushing forward. ISIS is able to get support and personnel in order to keep pursuing their goal. ISIS carry out many attacks and for these attacks they seem to have a large amount of weapons, connections and money. With that being said many people may ask but how are they able to get all that money to go towards their actions? Well I have the answer to that question. You see ISIS seems to be very different compared to other terrorist groups. That is why the US has made them their top priority. The way ISIS gets funded doesn't make them completely different from other terrorist groups. They actually share one way they get funded which is through wealthy donors. However the main way they get funded is actually from controlling all the territories in which they have taken over. They have roughly taken over the size of The United Kingdom! By doing so ISIS has developed diversified revenues that makes it more resilient to US officials. When it comes to funding the Islamic State they like to keep things within the territories that were taken by them. They avoid international financing at all times! Now within the territories that were taken over the Islamic State has a person in which they are considered to be the chief financial officer. This chief financial officer job is to manage ISIS accounts. This has been going so good for them that they have established a central bank and is trying to make their own currency! If you think this is bizarre wait until you read this; the Treasury Departments of Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, described the Islamic State as “probably the best funded terrorist organization we have confronted” (Swanson). Some people may think that the U.S is going about things the right way. While on the other hand some thinks otherwise. The people that agree with the U.S decisions believe that the root cause of ISIS is political. If that was correct then why is the U.S even involved in this war within the Middle East. Also when it comes to the foreign recruitment for ISIS the U.S has cut down the amount in which ISIS was recruiting at first. They were able to recruit twenty thousand each month but it was cut down all the way to fifty. If so why has ISIS developed diversified revenue channels that has made it more resilient to U.S offensives. Despite what opponents say the US needs to start making smarter decisions. The US is focused on ISIS so much that they can't see that the root cause for the rise of ISIS is political. It is only dealing with the Middle East we (US) has nothing to do with it. We need to remove ourselves from this equation to make the future brighter for ourselves. Our true potential in making this country better and actually living up to our standards is right on the other side of the door. We need to have the knowledge and determination to turn that handle and open that door to a new chapter in our lives!
