INTRODUCTION:-
Computer has occupied a important place in our life. All over the world the importance of computer is so much recognized that its education is included in the curriculum of school, college and universities.
In 8th five year plan computer education was introduced in about 2598 higher secondary schools in our country. The integration of information and communication technology or ICT in teaching and learning is an innovation that had revolutionized the educational system.
SIGNIFICANCE:-
Govt. of INDIA has announced 2010-2020 as decade of innovation.21st century is characterized with the emergence of knowledge based society where ICT plays a pivot role. The N.C.F.2005 has also highlighted the importance of ICT in school education. It is an emerging area for research to improve the quality of education as well as teaching and teacher. So that investigator feels to take the research problem to assess the ICT awareness and Literacy.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:- “AN ASSESSMENT OF ICT AWARENESS AND LITERACY AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS”
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION:-
1. ICT Awareness and Literacy: means the use of digital technology, communication tools, and/or networks to access, manage, integrated, evaluate and create information in order to function in a knowledge society. In the present study the ICT awareness and literacy will be assessed on following components- 1.Input device 2.output device 3. processing device4.Memory devices 5.MS Window and computer network6.MS world 7.MS paint 8.MS Power Point
2. SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS: refers to those students who are studying in +1and +2 classes under C.B.S.E. and H.P. Board during the session 2010-11
OBJECTIVES:- 1. To analyze the general awareness on ICT Awareness and Literacy among the senior secondary schools.
2. To study the difference in ICT Awareness and literacy among Rural and Urban Sen. Sec. students
3. To study the difference in ICT Awareness and literacy among boys & girls Sen. Sec. School students.
4. To study the difference in ICT Awareness and literacy among Govt. & Private Sen. Sec. school students.
5. To study the difference in ICT Awareness and literacy among English and Hindi medium Sen. Sec. school students. HYPOTHESES:-
1. There will be positive attitude towards the ICT Awareness and Literacy among Sen. Sec. School students
2. There will be no significant difference in ICT Awareness and Literacy among senior secondary students of Rural and Urban schools.
3. There will be no significant difference in ICT Awareness and Literacy among +2 students of the private and govt. Sen. Sec. schools.
4. There will be no significance difference in ICT Awareness and Literacy among boys and girls of The Secondary schools.
5. There will be no significant difference in ICT Awareness and Literacy among the students of class+2 in English and Hindi medium school
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:- The Present study will be aimed to assess ICT of awareness and literacy among Sen. Sec. school students. In order To achieve this objective the survey method of research will be adopted.
TOOL:-
A self developed tool will be used in order to assess the ICT awareness and literacy among Sen. Sec. schools.
SAMPLING:-
In present study the cluster random sampling will be used. Sample subject will be included 200 students of +2 classes from govt. and private Sen. Sec. schools affiliated to H.P. and C.B.S.E. Board in Bilaspur district. Further Boys & Girls from Hindi and English medium school will be considered.
STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES TO BE USED:-
After collecting the necessary data from selected sample subject; data will be analyzed by using an appropriate statistical technique like mean, standard deviation, student t-test. if necessary with graphical presentation.
DELIMITATION OF STUDY :- The study is delimited to:-
1. Study is limited to 8 components i.e. Input device, Output devices, Processing devices, Memory devices, MS Windows and computer networks, MS World, MS Paint, MS PowerPoint.
2. The study is delimited to a sample of 200 students of +2 classes.
3. The study is delimited to The Sen. Sec. schools of District Bilaspur of H.P.

Within my setting, ICT is an opportunity for children to apply and develop their knowledge and capability.
