I think I behave very differently between the countries on these matters. In both countries, before subscribing to anything, I will do a benchmark in order to know what is the best solution.
But the best solution is different between these two countries:
Hungary: When I arrived in Budapest, one of the first thing I did was buying a phone and to buy a SIM card. I chose Vodafone in Deak Ferenc for a reason I would never think of in France, I wanted a place I was sure they were speaking English and used to deal with foreigners. My main aim was not to subscribe to anything and to have any engagement, that’s why I chose “Pay as you go”. I knew it’s always more expensive to choose this pre-paid card, but I was less sensitive to price because it wasn’t my first criteria. I pay 3000HUF for 100min of calling and 1GB to go on the Internet with my phone.
France : In France my criteria are very different. First I’m much more sensitive to price, because I will go to every competitors on the market in order to see which is the cheapest and which is the one who has the best service.
