The
types of difficult co-workers I find myself coming in contact with on my job are Non-Responders, Insulters, and Busy-Bodies. There has been plenty of times where I am on the job and a non-responder has made my job more difficult than it has to be due to the lack of simple communication. This is frustrating because I am one who believes that communication is key to any situation that involves more than one individual. Also working with insulters is obviously the worst. I can remember a time when I was insulted by a co-worker because she felt that I did not handle a situation properly and said that I was unfit to be a program specialist, which is the job position with the Boys and Girls Club. Finally, busy-bodies are difficult to deal with at times but has often been the least annoying types of co-workers I have had to deal with. Busy-bodies at my job are very entertaining, but they can be distracting. This results in me to feel that I am putting my job at risk because when working with children, there is no time for distractions. After dealing with these types of co-workers I find others identifying me as the Nitpicker. The nitpicker being one that is a perfectionist, which is exactly what I consider myself to be. This due to how I prefer everything, not only in my professional setting, but in my life in general to run smoothly.
With Reading these types of difficult co-workers, as well as sharing experiences with these types of workers, I was able to learn a lot from the conflict handling styles and discover ways in which this information will help me in field placement.
