Identity In Mean Girls

Mean Girls follows the journey of Cady becoming part of the Plastics. This is all influenced by George Herbert Mead’s theories that perceptions of others and their approval influence what people make their identity or better known as the Social Self Theory (Julianne, Para 7). One example of the Social Self Theory is when Cady begins to dress similar to the Plastics by wearing pink, but hers is a men’s t-shirt while they have dressy pink clothes on (Julianne, Para 6). Through the film we can tell that Cady feels judged by the Plastics which influences her to dress differently once she realizes their disapproval on the way she currently dresses or on her current self (Mean Girls, 2004). After that incident she starts dressing differently
