6.3 billion people are culturally diversified in the world. A culture consists of countless multicultural components consisting of values, beliefs, attitudes, and customs. Culture can transform anyone. There are many examples of different cultures. For example, culture can be expressed by language, clothing, their house, religion, and much more. Authors communicate their cultural differences through books to show what it is like to live in a specific culture. Throughout my first book, If I Ever Get Out Of Here, each character had different cultural components to their life. Lewis Blake , one of the main characters, lives through life challenges every day. He is not blessed with things that most people have. For example,his house is caving in,
From the words of Lewis Blake, "We were taught that the kids that were not from the reservation were threatened to come here when they were being naughty"(Gansworth 18). This affected their attitudes towards people and how people would not accept him because of his cultural differences. "Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given.”(Hussein Nishah). Our beliefs and attitudes are passed on to us by different types of individuals and has built up over time by certain types of things. From the book, American Born Chinese, the monkey king raises the other monkeys to respect each other and play with each other nicely (Gene Luen Yang 10). This will influence the other monkeys in a long run as they will respect other people. In the end, multiple generations will benefit and draw from the same experience. In conclusion, attitudes and beliefs play a massive part in someone’s cultural components. Furthermore, without these components, each on of us would be nobodies, and not a single person could express their thoughts and beliefs as they wanted.
