My story If I Should Die Before I Wake is about a sixteen year old girl named Hilary, she is an angry girl. Hilary is angry because her mother didn't take care of her when she was a kid. Hilary also is angry because she blames the Jewish Boss for being cheap and not buying right materials for the building her father was killed in because of it collapsing. I have never felt as angry as Hilary before, but I do get upset sometimes when my family can not always be together for holidays. Hilary couldn’t stand being so mad and not raving about it, so she joined a Neo-Nazi group and takes all of her anger out on Jewish people. Never be mean to anyone, because you don’t know what they may be going through. The life lesson came from in the beginning when Hilary realized that these Jewish people were being treated so poorly “She floats toward me, like some kind of spirit, with a wet cloth in her hand. She wipes my face and then I hear dunking the cloth. I hear the water running off it as she lifts it up again, and I think of me and Estera Hurwitz, dunking our undergarments into our bucket.”. Hilary is in such awe that the Jewish people are being treated in such a poor manner. This was the beginning of Hilary’s realization of the life lesson. Hilary throughout the book went back and forth about her opinions on the Jewish religion, but towards the end she really started to regret how awful she was to the Jewish boy that lived across the street from her. Hilary was mean to this one Jewish boy named Simon who happened to be her friend when she was a younger but as she got older she didn’t like him “I told him I didn’t like him, and neither did anyone else. Ans he says, ‘You used to like me. You used to play with me, remember?’ ‘That was because I was bored,’ I told him” This made me very upset that she lies to him why she doesn’t like him anymore. Later in that page she says I don't know why I hate him it's just how he acts. I do not like how Hilary has to lie to herself to make herself feel better for hating
