If the Shoe Fits To me, a hero is a person that is a role model to others, is true to themselves, and is worthy of imitation. A hero is somebody who inspires others to be like them. It is not necessary for them to be perfect, because every human is flawed, but a great hero should take responsibility, learn from the experience, and move on. In fact, one of the qualities that makes a hero truly worth of admiration, is the ability to rise above and exhibit perseverance and strength. Jennifer Lancaster may not have the ability to fly, but she definitely possesses the aforementioned heroic qualities. From working on her high school newspaper, to being rush chairman in her sorority, to working as an HMO recruiter, she always gives all of her focus, time, and attention in all of her endeavors. Jennifer has never let herself or others around her fall victim to bullies. She is always the first one to stand up for herself and others by demanding the respect she knows that she deserves while still maintaining her standards of poise and class. A celebrity is somebody that is famous. But, an individual can be known by the general public for having an outstanding talent, or for negative actions that cast them into the limelight, or simply by being excessively wealthy. A hero and a celebrity differ in that most celebrities change themselves in order to conform to what is popular in society. A hero can be a celebrity, because their heroic deeds have been showcased to the world, but only true heroes do not allow this status to fill them with conceit and ambition that ultimately change them. Jennifer Lancaster has acquired fame due to the many books that she has released, but she continues to exude the qualities that a hero should possess. Although she is clad in plaid and a pearls as opposed to a cape, I believe that Jennifer is a true hero. She is true to herself, and has risen above the obstacles that she has faced.
