IIMUN (Indian International Model United Nations) conducts training programme, on an academic mock of the actual United Nations where students play the role of International Diplomats and World Leaders. It gives students a chance to take on the role of decision maker and offer solutions to the global issues. The Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) is the brainchild of an event management company called Aufklaren Events LLP, which was started by the youth, for the youth and of the youth. IIMUN is the largest MUN (Model United Nations) in the country and will actually forward the resolutions passed by the committees to the United Nations.
The first day was an Opening ceremony on the 12th of august we set out to Sophia College Auditorium. We reached there on time but the show had a delay for some time. As soon as it began, we were locked to our seats and excited. There were different personalities coming to grace the occasion. It was a fun time over there and now we were dying in anxiety if this was the starting how is the rest of it going to be. And when the next day we reached the mystery revealed.
There were many delegates from all over the country participating in this event. When we arrived at World Trade Centre, we were seated in different areas, according to the committee we belonged to. We were all nervous for there were all unknown faces in front of us. The formal language and procedures followed by the United Nations were mirrored entirely by these committees. This took some getting used to for us, especially avoiding personal pronouns. Each committee was headed by a chair and a vice chair, who did a commendable job of keeping discussions on track, accustoming us to the required procedures and maintaining the systems of the United Nations.
