Case Study Report
Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of IKEA as an organization and the issues and criticism in which it has been involved. I will be assessing IKEA and analyzing why and how it has decided to address criticism and scandals through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), assessing its application of CSR to the issues at hand.
The public response to IKEA’s CSR actions will also be analyzed, together with cultural changes within IKEA and what drove the cultural shift.
The final part of the report will evaluate the strategic CSR policies implemented by IKEA assessing their effectiveness and whether their CSR practice has helped the organization achieve its goals and objectives.
Introduction
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a company’s commitment to be accountable to its stakeholders, in relation to how it aligns its values and behaviour with the expectations and needs of stakeholders.
Through CSR organizations manage the economic, social and environmental impacts and performance of their operations to maximize the benefits and minimize risks; CSR also allows for a more transparent business practice which is based on ethical values, compliance with legal requirements and respect for people, communities and the environment.
CSR is very important because it influences every aspect of an organization’s operations. (Werther
