In Nicolò Ammaniti's novel, 'I'm Not Scared', the effects of fear is demonstrated multiple times. The words 'Fear' and 'Scared' are synonyms; they are very similar yet different depending on the context which follows them. Almost as if they are reciprocating the title, the character share similar aspects depending on the fear which follows them.
The fear of a bleak, poverty filled future following the adults, cause them to become violent, reckless and panic-stricken.
