CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
1. Background By using media people are easy to get information. Many people still like to read newspaper compared with the other media. It is because newspaper is the cheapest and efficient media to get by people.
Solopos is a national company which operates in publishing sector. This company publishes the daily general newspaper. This company has operated as communication media during 1 April 1997. It is the biggest daily newspaper in Solo that provides information to fulfill their readers’ need through its news and article. This newspaper not only provides the recent and hot news about case in Solo but also present the national information to the readers.
Creating a good image is one of the duty of Public Relations Officer. Image attaches great importance to the quality of the company. Therefore, it is essential to know how their customers perception through its newspaper and tagline “Terdepan dan Terpercaya”. I conducted this study to find out the public perception of Solopos, the result can be used to find out the company’s reputation.
According to Fombrun, a good reputation enhances profitability because it attracts customers to products, investors to securities and employees to its jobs. A company's reputation is an asset[->1] and wealth[->2] that gives that company a competitive advantage because this kind of a company will be regarded as a reliable, credible, trustworthy and responsible for employees, customers, shareholders and financial markets.
Problem Statement
1. How is the customer perception of Solopos image?
