Mother bears leave their cubs after only 7 months after birth; humans however take eighteen years to let their children be free. This might be because the human brain takes twenty-five years to fully develop, making people under this age more likely to have a lesser understanding of how the world works. In William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies, he shows that what can be perceived as natural evil is just an act of survival caused by immaturity. The perception of evil has to be determined in context. And in the context of the boys on the island they have to make thoughts on which is not exactly morally correct but logical.
