Immigration
Immigration is important because it will always be part of the United States’s history. America was built from immigration, and we tend to forget where our ancestors came from because we are so proud of being American. Immigration is an issue where our two main parties, Republicans and Democrats, have been disagreeing about for many years, although both parties have valid points, I cannot help but side with the democratic party. I think about how my grandparents came here and how much it has helped our family with great opportunities.
Let’s step up back and explain the difference between Republicans and Democrats. In very short terms, Republicans care about money first, then people. Democrats care about people first, then money. According to article “Differences Between Republicans and Democrats,”( http://www.svgop.com/files/Differences%20Between%20Republicans%20and%20Democrats.pdf_ a republican’s core beliefs include that each person is responsible for his or her own prosperity and “place in society.” On the other hand, Democrats believe in the government helping its people. When immigration is an issue, both parties side completely different. Republicans consider the borders to have a lack of security, which has contributed to the flow of the negative effects that immigrations brings to our country, such as gangs, and drug trafficking (http://www.svgop.com/files/Differences%20Between%20Republicans%20and%20Democrats.pdf) They believe that in this nation, with laws and regulation, the immigration policies should be followed and executed with a more secure borders. Although, there may be some Republicans that do believe that immigrants are hard workers, it doesn’t stop them from believing that it may encourage other immigrants to come to the United States illegally.
