Essay title
We live in a world where many people are not satisfied with the place they live in due to wars, poverty, or political reasons. They leave their countries to come to the United States in order to find the life they dream of. According to the United States census, more than 1 million immigrants come to the United States every year. I chose the song “Coming to America” by Neil Diamond, because it talks about immigrants and why they leave their countries to pursue the American dream. He explained how people left their homes and came to America in order to find a safer place to live in, a place where they can achieve their dreams and have a good life. The song’s theme is a positive interpretation of the history of immigration to the United States where they come to achieve liberty, prosperity and welfare.
Liberty is more than a word. Liberty is not merely a feeling, or something that we can express by defining just one way. Liberty is an expression often used, but its true importance is never understood. Liberty is the very fiber, the invisible hand that shapes our nation into what it should be. It allows us to reach great heights as individuals, but even greater heights as a nation. Liberty, in fact, is the very ideal that motivated the founding fathers of America to form a new nation, and to emphasize individuality and contribution to society. Which connects to the song when Neil Diamond talked about liberty and being free, when he said; “Free, Only want to be free, we huddle close, Hang on to a dream”. People all over the world come to America to seek liberty.
Immigration benefits the U.S. The economic advantages are significant. Many immigrants are natural entrepreneurs, establishing companies, creating jobs, and driving innovation. Well-educated and highly-trained foreign workers are inventive and productive. Expanded work forces increase business flexibility, allowing companies to quickly

Despite this, we must not lose sight of the fact that immigrants provide America with many advantages. The richness and diversity of their cultures, for example. Also, their willingness to work hard and take on certain jobs that Americans would otherwise refuse - at least at the same wage level. They provide a supply of willing labor for those industries which are in need. Americans benefit from the goods and services that their inexpensive labor allows.…

Benefits and costs of authorized immigrants to workers, consumers, and the economy are varied. Authorized immigrants have the ability to come to the US and make higher wages than they usually can in there home country. With the legality of their working here they will still pay taxes, and abide by all US laws. This allows for firms to hire workers that will do many of the undesirable jobs most people would not want to do, or are over qualified to do without forcing the firms to operate in the "black market." Labor consumers get benefits that they have more options available to hire. Authorized immigrants could have more specialized education in industries/fields that are not as apparent or as developed in the US. This leads to benefits in the economy as a whole as some of the specialized fields could lead to whole new industries in the US, which equates with more job availability. Along with this, the economy will have a whole new demographic of workers to choose from for hire. The diversity that comes from it can only be beneficial, making the market more competitive overall. Costs of authorized workers are pretty much few, but they are big ones. Some problems question American pride and ability. Some ask, "Why do we need foreign workers in the US anyway?" We are self-sufficient and do not need them regardless if they are legal or not. Although there are benefits many people are against even authorized workers. This causes some problems among workers, there can be tensions between the native-born and foreign-born. Consumers of labor can have problems because with authorized foreign workers sometime firms are required to hire certain races/ethnicities. The only problem being with that is that a firm might be forced to hire a less qualified, productive worker just because they are a certain ethnicity. Costs to the economy as a whole is that some American funds, such as wages made by workers on Visa's are often sent home to another country to support one's family…

More businesses means more workers that can be hired to add to the workforce. Immigrants increase the economy substantially. People immigrating to America today face a lot of obstacles. For example it may be hard to find a job because they may not be a skillful speaker yet and will also be competing against the millions of Americans looking for jobs. In America there is a total of 4.9 percent of the population unemployed, that of which 7.2 percent are college degree owners. For a newcomer it has become more difficult job searching because many high end jobs that people go to college for have been taken, leaving those people with degrees having better resumes for low end jobs. Also If a foreigner has trouble with speaking English the job may also be more biased as in they may be seeking out more fluent speakers.…

Americans benefit by having immigrants do needed labor that Americans do not want to do themselves. “It's a well-known fact that many of the jobs immigrants come here to fill are jobs Americans are not taking, when we prevent immigrants from taking those jobs, producers and consumers suffer the consequences” according to Country Monitor. Immigrants provide the labor that allows the United States to have produce as well as products such as fruits, vegetables, and cotton. They work seasonal to provide these items that are necessary for our nation’s survival. They also do other labor such as construction, this builds things like our homes and necessary and unnecessary items that we want to have. “Immigration increases the supply of domestic labor. However, immigration brings many secondary effects that offset the increased supply. Immigrants earning money demand goods and services, increasing the demand for labor, creating more jobs and pushing wages up” as stated by Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. Having immigrants in American does have its…

Liberty is the freedom from certain restrictions that are forced on the lives of people in society. But in America, liberty is more than just a definition. Liberty is an icon, a way of living and a motivation. In fact, many of the structures or statues in America have liberty inscribed on them or have the word liberty in the name. For example, the Liberty Bell. At a glance, the Liberty Bell seems like a regular old bell with a crack down the side. In reality, the Liberty Bell is a model of freedom for Americans. At first, the Liberty Bell was only known on a local scale, but now the bell is known on a global scale. People all around the world know about the bell, but do they really know the connotation or the background information of the bell?…

Immigration issues are discussed from very different viewpoints. Some people argue that immigration has nothing but huge costs. Expenses like ESL (English as a Second Language) costs, the increase in crime associated with foreign criminality and the insecurity after September 11 terrorist attack have made people to question if immigration should increase. In my opionion, immigration has a lot of benefits and is an asset to any country. It encourages economic growth and creates cultural diversity and understanding of different nations.…

In July 18, 1991 my family and I came to the beautiful land of many opportunities, the United States of America for a better life and future. It was a dreams come through .When we first came to America, we were so amazed by the beauty, and richness of the land. However, right away, we recognized that American culture is different from where we originally came from. It didn’t take time for us to notice the culture. Our first destination was, at Richmond Virginia. In Virginia, the weather was so hot, it felt like my skin was on fire. It was so humid, I felt the heaviness of the air, and it smelled like burned rubber. Then, February 28, 1992, my family and I moved to the Evergreen State, Seattle, Washington. We move because a friend informed us…
