Immigration Narrative
I closed my eyes hoping I would bring myself to imagine I was in heaven safe and happy without any sort of pain I've been feeling since I began the trip but sadly that imagine didn't last, I heard somebody yell “Put your hands up now!!!” I froze in spot not knowing what to do the only thing I did know was my life was about to come to an end. I heard the Immigration and Customs Enforcement known as a police to arrest immigrants. The police officer was actually arresting and yelling at a man I knew who was also on the journey with the rest. I thanked God for not letting the police officer find me. As bad as I felt for the man I had to keep my head and keep walking. As I remembered my mother's words “Never bend your head. Always hold it high. …show more content…

I had decided to be caught by the immigration officer because since I am only 16 years old they send me to jail for a day and then they send me to a house where they hold immigrants and, they give me a lawyer in order for me to stay with my aunt because I can't be held for more than two weeks. I was currently walking through bushes as I saw a police officer walk by and i knew it was my time to be caught. The police officer began to tell me to stop where I am and put my hands up. He came towards me and grabbed my hands harshly and hand cuffed me. The police officer took me to the jail cell and I stayed there without food and water I was freezing without a blanket I had felt like I was dog being abandoned. I wasn't allowed to go to sleep if I did I wouldn’t hear my name when the officer would tell me it was time for me to be sent to the house of immigrants. I didn't know what time it was but the police officer had finally called out my name. They took the house and I was glad at the fact I was able to see my aunt rose already thanks to my lawyer. My aunt was arriving to the house they would call over to when she arrived. I heard the lawyer call me to tell me my aunt had arrived it was my first time meeting her but I was excited to finally meet …show more content…

When I got in the car she told me we were going to stop at the Walmart near the hotel to get something to go with the food we had saved from breakfast. When we pulled into the parking lot a police car began following us. My mom parked the car and we got out and began walking to enter the store. The policeman jumped out of his car and started yelling at us to come back, it was at that moment when I felt it: something bad is about to happen. The police officer said that the rental car my mom had been driving was reported stolen because my mom's credit card had been declined. Then another police car pulled up and two officers got out and told my mom to put her hands on the hood of the car. Then a k9 unit pulled up and anther police officer and a dog got out. At that point, the first officer handcuffed my mom and put her in the back of the police car. Now all of the police officers were huddled talking meanwhile I stood there horrified. The police officer that arrested my mom came over opened the back door and told me to get in. he then slammed the door and walked back to the group of…

I was raised in the small town of Hidalgo, Texas, just on the side of the Mexican Border. Living there made me grow up thinking that possibilities were limited and there was not much offered to us. Although, along the years, I realized that this town did not define me , and it actually made me strong enough to take on life elsewhere in the future . I remember being in this town ten years ago, and there was only local businesses . The town has grown along with me, and it has opened up opportunities to its community and myself.…

There are lots of propaganda related to immigration. The most influential propaganda that I personally saw was "Immigrants are going to steal our jobs." Although my paper is about, stopping the immigrants from entering the United States, however, there are some benefits when immigrants come into the country. There is no evidence that immigrants still the jobs. Most of the times immigrants do the jobs that the normal citizen won't do. Some of the immigrants come up with a new innovation and they develop their ideas in the United States. Economy growth much faster with immigrants coming into the country.…

For the once isolated immigrant from the hot deserts of the Middle East, never have I expected the open doors of opportunity at my grasp and the growth that soon followed within the freshman year of high school in the US. Before my immigration, I never truly experienced the challenge of a demanding curriculum. As such, I experienced an immense culture shock within my mind. Despite the difficulty of the transition, I knew it was worth it because I discovered an aspect of myself that remained dormant till I entered the gates of my new school.…

The day started off as any normal day. My mother woke me up and said “we must go.” Her voice sounded very urgent for what I thought was just a trip to the grocery store. My mom laid my outfit on my bed and packed by book bag; that’s when I figured out that I was starting school. I wasn’t entirely oblivious to the fact that I was going to familiarize myself with a completely different environment, but I just thought I had a little more time to prepare. Well, it turns out that I was wrong. You see, I wasn’t your average pre-schooler who was nervous about making friends. I was the immigrant child who had never spoken a word of English.…

After a while, someone knocks the door and I opened the door, it was my grandmother from her house. I tried to communicate with her using hand gestures, but she was not being able to understand me so I thought writing on the piece of paper is a good idea. I wrote on paper in my own language (Nepali) by saying “I was missing you from back home when you left us”. After she finishes reading papers, I was already full of tears and I talk with her using hand gestures that I want to talk with you, but she tells me I will talk to your parents and she left me. These walls have heard my cries more than anyone else will and well these mirrors have seen me judge every feature of myself more than anyone else. Always told myself around age 15 that I was stuck in a 25 year old's body and in some ways I was. From the depression to the anxiety, I made it all on my own. Being the child of an African immigrant is not exactly the easiest life to live, but we all go through adversities and like the saying goes it doesn’t matter how you start but how you finish. I finished as a whole new person, a person most will never know. Hearing the car parking the footsteps getting louder and being too scared to face it so I ran to my room. From the arguing to the screams the good to the bad, it made me who I am today.…

Entering the asylum was always drudgery, especially at its now increased frequency. Being strikingly dull and depressing, the process was ingrained in my mind. I pulled up into the visitor parking, entered through those stone cold doors, shared pleasantries with the same sallow stone lady at the desk, scanned my card to enter, and there I was, inside the deathly hole the unfortunate call home. Once inside, the corridors become long and thin. An odd odor permeated the whole facility, a scent that even my clothes smelled of now. Moreover, against the gray concrete walls stood the despicable shadows of the inmates, hiding away in their cells.…

During that moment I did not know what to do. I did not have a drivers license nor registration for the car, and there was a possibility that I still had alcohol in my system from the previous night out. The officer took off his helmet and got off from his motorcycle, and as he was walking towards our car I had a hundred thoughts in my mind, but none were good or helpful in figuring out a reason for my action. I looked to my friend and said," I'm in so much trouble.'' He was just staring to me with an open mouth with nothing to reply to that. As the officer came to the car, I rolled down the window, and the words coming from him were," license and registration please !'' I had nothing to give him. He was surprised and asked, what was I doing in car with no license and registration. I explained the situation and how I got in this trouble, to which he replied that he may have take the car and, I would not be able to…
