Immigration is a very diverse and wide spread issue throughout The United States of America. There are many proposals from different views between politicians and the citizens of the U.S. With there being two types of immigration, legal and illegal, there are even more aspects to look at when considering and researching policies and procedures of immigration. There are also many terms and definitions when it comes to both legal and illegal immigration. Defined by the IRS, an individual who is not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national is considered an alien. If Clinton wins the presidency, unlike Republicans who want to secure the borders and keep immigrants out, she believes immigrants should be allowed into the U.S under certain circumstances. In Clinton’s book Hard Choices, she reveals “Immigration helped keep the US population young and dynamic at a time when many of our partners and competitors were aging.” (Clinton 2014). Unlike Trump, Clinton believes America is not the Country to tear apart families if one parent of a U.S. born citizen is an illegal immigrant. One similarity between the Democratic and Republican party is border control. The small difference with border control is the fact that Clinton wants tougher and more secure borders. As stated on the website On The Issue, Clinton does not want to completely cut off immigrants like the Republicans do. She says in the 2008 Democratic debate, “I’ve been advocating for it: tougher, more secure borders, but let’s do it the right way, cracking down on employers, who exploit undocumented workers and drive down wages for everyone else.” (On The Issue 2015). In the same Democratic speech made by Clinton in 2008, she states the illegal immigrants will need to “come out of the shadows” so the Government can officially register them as legal unlike Republicans who want to send the illegal immigrants back to their homeland. The only stipulation Clinton has for these immigrants is if those foreigners decide to pay a fine for entering America illegally, pay back taxes, and learn English (On The Issue 2015).
