Many people have made an impact to my life. I have decided to do my monument project on my grandpa. My grandpa passed away a couple years ago, I didn’t get to see him very often. He lived in a nursing home because he had problems with his brain and troubles talking, memory, and paying attention. If I were to build something in memory of my grandpa I would build a place where you could show dogs. There would be a little runway or path that my grandpa and the dog can walk on and they would act just like they would as if they were being judged. My grandpa loved to show dogs, he would show Golden Retrievers in the county fairs. He would also travel all over the states to enter his dogs into a contest. Both my mom and
aunt, along with my grandma used to show dogs when they were younger.
I would probably place the dog show facility in my backyard, it is a decent size and it’s on the lake, so the dogs could go swimming. My backyard is mostly flat and all grass, so I wouldn’t have to worry about building it level. I could build a roof or a dome over the area, or I could just leave it empty and place a white fence around the perimeter of the runway or path. I wish for my grandpa to come around because even though I only saw him almost once a year since he got close, I felt really close to him. I never talked to him when he was in the nursing home besides the causal “Hi” and the “Bye, love you”. He would ever respond, if your not counting a grunt here and there, but I felt like we were close and had a special bond. I never really got time to mourn over his death, when my mom told me he died she was picking my up from school, while we were on the way to the doctor. I only had a couple minutes to respond before we were at the doctor's office.
