Importance Of Diversity In Auburn
To encourage diversity is to accept reality, like it is necessary to understand that not all people are Auburn fans, no matter how much we wish they were. Auburn has no chance in growing, no chance of creating a stable campus life, and no chance of surviving in society if diversity is not something of importance. Because of this, alumni and students alike have created an obvious impact in the world around them, but this is not possible if diversity is not embraced. Auburn will, consequently, never grow if diversity is not treated with importance. Globally,

The average David Douglas High School student has to hear the word “diversity” at least 100 times throughout assemblies, student elections, and announcements via intercom. Let me explain. David Douglas High School is one of the biggest and most diverse schools in Oregon. In the halls of DDHS, you’ll never meet the same person twice in one day. Our school’s diversity is reflected in our clubs, too: Asian American Youth Leadership Club, Black Student Union, Bhutanese Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, Latino Club, Somali Club… the list goes on. Hearing that Wayne State is a welcoming diverse community is something that makes me ready to be a part of the student body. Being a person of color and growing up in a community that was so welcoming made life easy to embrace. For years as a young child, I was always worried about not being able to fit in or to find friends: simply because I was told by adults that the other kids would not like me for not being “American” enough. Now as a young adult I am able to say that those adults were wrong, I grew up with friends of all different ethnicities. At Wayne State I would make sure that my fellow classmates feel the same amount of comfort I felt growing up. I am so fortunate that growing up in such a diverse environment has made me a well-rounded…

Perhaps the most pivotal point of my education has been the diversity I am surrounded with. Attending one of the best high schools in the state has exposed me to vast diversity which challenged my beliefs and led me to mature faster than friends at other schools. For example, in one of my classes, the person on my left is Indian, the person behind me is Jamaican, and the person to my right is Bosnian. Cultural diversity is just the beginning. I am surrounded by some of the most talented people I have ever met who can make provoking art, choreograph beautiful dances, create city-wide magazines, win the Siemen’s competition, and much more. Diversity within education is essential to the growth of students. Being surrounded by people who think, act, and talk like you doesn’t teach students perspective. That is why I am grateful for opportunities like the Porter scholarship which gives talented students an opportunity to get scholarships and contribute to the diversity of the University of…

Being a first-year student at Transylvania University, during the months that I have spent on and around campus, I’ve realised an idea about our campus community which I think could cause anyone to wonder. Like most colleges or universities, it seems as if one of Transy’s main goal for the body of students is to have diversity. In other words, being diverse is one thing our administrative campus community claim to be. However, what seems to be the issue about this is that Transy is considered “diverse” to some, but to others it’s not. The word “diversity” or being “diverse” can be defined in many different ways—these ways could be influenced by our backgrounds, statuses, experiences and at times, even the way we identify ourselves racially.…

One thing all Americans have in common is diversity. Having diversity causes Americans to work together and form a bond and treat everyone as they would like to be treated. We also have our freedom in common. Everyone has rights of speech, religion, press, etc. so everyone can define who they are and who we will become. Everyone has different ideas as to what being an American means, but to me it means that we have individuality, that we take pride on our country, and that we can be opportunists.…
