The play ‘Macbeth’ is one of four major tragedies written by William Shakespeare in 1606. The plot of ‘Macbeth’ revolves around the protagonist Macbeth and it is set in the 11th century. Macbeth is introduced as a trustworthy & loyal warrior, and Thane of Glamis, whose fame in the battlefield wins him a great honour and respect from the king. The play’s tragedy begins when Macbeth allows his over ambition to ignite his downfall. The protagonist’s hamartia was overambition which leads to the murder of King Duncan. One side is him as an honest & faithful warrior and the other being a murderer & a traitor. The good side of Macbeth will have a yellow and white background symbolizing happiness and joy. The good side will have pink lips and the bad side will have red lips. This is to show that Macbeth speaks good things, as well as bad. We know he is trusted and reliable because King Duncan says, “O worthiest cousin” and “My worthiest Cawdor”. The other side will have a black background, showing the darkness in Macbeth, with red claw marks through the mask showing that Macbeth had gotten the crown from acts of turpitude. The bad side will also have some blood dripping from the top of the mask to show that Macbeth murdered King Duncan to get to the position of king. King Duncan is the father of two sons (Malcolm and Donalbain), and the victim of a well-plotted regicide in a power grab by his trusted captain Macbeth.
