At the core of every soldier is the willingness and desire to serve the nation—both its…
I was awarded a wonderful education at Windham High School, but beyond the information I retained, I also learned what is important in life. At first, I thought all that mattered was the clothes you wore, what makeup you had on, and who you were friends with. There is more to life than all that. I love helping others and my induction into the National Honor Society allowed me to do just that, especially in my four service projects I had the opportunity to lead and be a part of. I try to please people and make sure they are always happy and I now know it is most important to give back to the community who gave me so much.…
Everyone wants to go to a high school where they’re going to be accepted in or simply to find out what they’re going want to do later in their life. A high school where students will grow and make a difference because it is not about just graduating and you’re done. It is about making memories and making it the best four years of the students’ life. Then, continuing that journey once they’re finished with high school because they have seen how much they have accomplished in those four years. Going to a great high school can change their life and make a difference because not every high school is the same. Students need to believe there are more to be done with their life. This is for the young people who are concerned about finding a career…
In middle school, I dreaded high school. It was a whole new world full of challenges that I only had a glimpse of from reading Perks of Being a Wallflower and Catcher in the Rye. I spent much of my time worrying about what high school would be like. But I never imagined that I would become a person that would not only conquer the challenges but also help others face theirs.…
Lets us began with remembering back when it was quite the accomplishment to finish High School. Job opportunities would seem as if they were thrown at you. Your family members would praise you for such a good job. The feeling of that was so great; it felt as if you were unstoppable. Now days a High School Diploma is nothing short but a sure way to get a minimum wage paying job that you are more than likely to not enjoy what so ever.…
High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…
Throughout highschool, I have found my passion and I have figured out who my true friends are and who will stay by my side when I need them the most. I got the most out of high school by challenging myself to take complicated classes and if I knew that those classes were not for me, then I would drop them. My counselor, Mrs. Daugherty, has been very supportive of my decisions and has helped me get to where I am now. She has given me tons…
“Brave hearts do not back down.” This quote is special to me because I know people I would consider as brave or a hero, but my top pick would be the soldiers. We can all agree that there is much more that our extraordinary veterans go through in order to make this nation the very best. I believe in an America that offers every child access to a world-class education, gives back to our current and fallen heroes, and that creates a common sense gun law in an effort to save our loved ones.…
High school graduates should be able to read a book and analyze the rhetoric. They should be capable of looking at the ocean, and remembering what ecosystem inhabits it. These accomplished students, the finished products, should be capable of viewing their world and recalling the lessons they learned about it. The ultimate goal of school is that students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to real life.…
America has always been loyal to its citizens and allies. They have proven that by going to war to improve the country and the lives of people living in it. This is why they’re known as the land of the free and the home of the brave. The two principles that I will be discussing are perseverance and loyalty.…
High school is the time when people find out who they are or who they want to become. It is also the time when people get a fresh new start. People usually do not know what they want entering their freshman year. As high school continues, people learn new things about themselves that they did not know before. High school students are some of the dumbest people that live on the planet.…
I experienced new circumstances that I never had to deal with. On the first day, I heard people talking about the drugs they were going to do after school at the local gas station. Those conversations were not rare. High school opened up to experiences to me. I walked in not knowing a single soul. All my lifelong friends went to the local private high schools. Because of my family’s situation, I had to go to the public school in town. This school is one of the largest in the area. My graduating class had around seven hundred students. I went from a tiny middle school where I knew everyone, to this giant high school where I didn’t know a single person. I was forced to grow up. I had to come out of my shell and make new friends. Suddenly being on my own made me realize I was not a child anymore. I took this information and made the best of it. I learned how to be a leader in my community. I was no longer naïve to the world. These new surroundings opened my eyes to the real…
Having the responsibility of both school and a job taught me balance. It also taught me how to be punctual, how to utilize my time wisely, and most importantly, it showed me the value of hard work. As a result, I have become more mature and self-disciplined, allowing me to be promoted to shift manager at my job, and still being able to excel in college with a high GPA.…
Everyone tells you that high school will be the best part of your life. But which part of high school is that? Is it sitting through long courses, the endless hours of homework, losing friends, getting your heart broken, or getting bad grades that you don’t deserve? When I look back at the last couple years of high school there was a lot of good and bad, but all the most memorable times was during extra curricular activities.…
James Truslow Adams once stated, “There are obviously two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.” Through the, rudimentary years and the rigorous high school courses, I have learned nothing valuable in life directly from reading a textbook; I have also learned nothing specific from listening to the multitude of words that have been thrown at me by the many teachers who have followed the classic path of education. My real lessons have not been taught by learning the material given by the teacher, rather I learned through all my experiences while being involved in school. It is these experiences that shape who I am today. These are events that I will always remember. After twelve successful years of schooling, I have found personal responsibility, gained a great sense of time, and learned the importance of having fun in an educational environment.…
