It’s some people’s opinion that random search of lockers without warning is an invasion of their rights to privacy. some would not have a problem if there was advance notice. Routine announced practices are understable if it’s school policy.
Many might have personal items like personal family pictures which could cause trust issues with the student and the principal. There could be legal issues. A parent could file a lawsuit. It could create a hassle for the school if a student made a false claim of a large sum of money in the locker, and then after the search, the money was gone. …show more content…
School safety is critical.
Having drug dogs come in for the random checks could be a measure of safety for the student body. This limits the search to lockers that the dogs sniff out. If several students have seen and reported a weapon in a student’s locker, that would be probable cause for a search. most agree with this as a good safety measure. This also is a good safety measure.
Random locker searches can be an invasion of privacy, but sometimes safety for the student body takes precedence. Because some students will bring drugs or weapons to school, random locker searches will continue to be a
