The new Open Carry law in Texas has created a lot of heat recently. This law allows previses owners of the concealed handgun license (CHL) to now freely display their weapon at the side of their hip or shoulder as long as it is inside a holster. In order to actually be able to openly carry a handgun in Texas you must: be at least twenty-one years of age, have a clean criminal and psychological record, and also complete the classroom training; while passing a shooting test. So imagine walking down your neighborhood or public park and seeing someone with a loaded handgun at the side of their hip. This may be concerning for some citizens because they do not know if this is someone whom will go buck-wild and open fire at anyone in their crosshair or they could be the only person whose lead encouragement will protect your very life. This law has complete support from the peculiar views of the second amendment, yet still has a copious amount of combined restrictions for the: gun owners, businesses, non-gun owners, and even the police. Texas has allowed its citizens to carry a concealed handgun for over twenty years; you have probably encountered a countless number of civilians with a concealed weapon and never realized it. So while open carry may be fairly new to being revitalized in Texas, it…
If the point of the Second Amendment is to allow its citizens to resist an oppressive government, would it mean that the Amendment is entirely obsolete? Modern governments have tanks that fire artillery the size of a human forearm and bombs that could misused on the peop. As gun-control advocates say, we can't fairly interpret the Second Amendment as guaranteeing the people a right to own weapon powerful enough to shoot down planes and obliterate heavy…
No other amendments in the United States Constitution has caused as much controversy as the Second Amendment. The amendment states that the people of America are allowed to bare arms and maintain a well regulated militia. This has caused a lot of controversy and issues with gun control in recent years. The Second Amendment should be amended in order to have more rules, regulations, and provide a safer America for people. People in favor of guns suggest that there is a need for guns for all citizens to protect people from the government. However, violence is a large issue today with guns and weapons. The Founding Father’s were building America with a more liberal perspective that envisioned a free society where individuals protected their own property and person with minimal interference from the government. In today’s society America has built a stronger military and police force where people do not need as many weapons in their homes with such high power.…
For years now our country has been in a heated debate on the second amendment. Some people feel that it is not safe to let citizens have and carry guns, while others agree it is their right as an american to own a gun. In America, there are approximately 270 million firearms possessed by civilians, and only 897,000 carried by police.Close to 33,000 Americans were victims of gun-related deaths in 2011 and an average of 268 citizens are shot every day. In the past decade our country has witnessed 142 mass school shootings and, in 2010 alone 19,392 people committed suicide with a gun. These frightening statistic are what I believe cuz some people to be against the second amendment.…
The constitutional right quoted above all else is the second amendment: the right to bear arms. Many have been harmed directly and indirectly through legal fire arms. The second amendment is put up to debate after numerous hate crimes and school shootings. What if stricter restrictions had been implemented concerning gun purchases, the guns might not have been…
For the last few decades having gun in the US has been the most controversial topics in America. While most of the population do oppose on gun control and the government have laws and regulations. As I gather more information on such touchy subject for many of the citizens of the US, most the population are currently carrying illegal firearms. There are three focal points that are very critical to me regarding carrying gun. Why is the 2nd amendment important? why do we need to preserve our 2nd amendment right? Why do we carry firearms?…
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms . Although the Supreme Court has ruled that this right applies to individuals, not merely to collective militias, it has also held that the government may regulate or place some limits on the manufacturer, ownership and sale of firearms. Requested by several states during the Constitutional ratification debates, the widespread desire for such an amendment reflected the lingering resentment over the widespread efforts of the British to confiscate the colonists’ firearms at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Patrick Henry had rhetorically asked, shall we be stronger, "when we are totally disarmed, and when a British Guard shall be…
If taken literally, one can simply state the 2nd amendment in the bill of rights as their answer. There is indisputably no better way to protect something valuable to you than to obtain a weapon and fight for it; that is what America has been doing since its conception. However, in modern society, we cannot just do that, there are rules in place to prevent that, but those are exactly what allow us to establish and preserve the freedom of the American population in its entirety. Although people inevitably complain about the laws established by the government, they rarely take action.…
How would you feel if someone came into your house and told you that you had to give them your gun, your self defence, and your right as a citizen of the United States of America. I would feel like my rights don't matter and America has lost more of what it promised to be. This is what could happen to America if it submits to Gun Control. Gun Control is unconstitutional and precedes the limits that used to be more prevalent in the government.…
The Second Amendment has made it possible for citizens to have a right to bear arms and protect themselves. Guns laws from state to state have been debatable on the lower and high levels of congress. Guns laws are put into place to regulate the use, ownership, and, transport, and firearms accessories. Gun laws are regulated by the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms). Guns laws will interfere with workplace and public safety at any time firearms are present. Some organizations forbid employees from carrying firearms on their property or in their parking garages of the organizations. A number of other states (including Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin)…
The 1st Amendment is important in the constitution because it protects our rights such as; our freedom of speech, religion, speech, petition, etc. The 1st amendment (as stated in the constitution) “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” This basically translates that this amendment protects our basic rights that we deserve. The First Amendment is one run-on sentence that enshrines five of the most essential liberties guaranteed by American democracy: the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, the freedom…
“The NSA is not listening to Americans' phone calls or monitoring their emails” (Does the Government). As the government states they are permitted to collect any Americans communications The Fourth Amendment protects your privacy, for instance the police cannot search personal properties. Due to the definition of "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers,” it makes people feel secure (Legal Information). In addition, it prevents all irrelevant searches that are not useful. On the other hand the Fourth Amendment makes it challenging for law enforcement to gather information. The Fourth Amendment is beneficial to citizens: it protects privacy, makes people feel secure, and deters searches, although it makes amassing evidence more arduous for the law-enforcement community.…
Background checks would require government databases that keep personal individual information on gun owners, including name, addresses, mental health history, criminal records, and more. More gun control is not needed; education about guns and gun safety is needed to prevent accidental gun deaths. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people and people need more gun education and mental illness screening to prevent massacres. The second Amendment was intended to protect gun ownership of all vigorous men so that they could participate in the militia to keep the peace and defend the country if needed. According to the United States Code, a militia is composed of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age… under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard. Overall, .many people believe that more gun control laws are not necessary due to the fact that it isn't the gun that kills but the person behind the gun who’s most…
One of the most highly debated amendments of the United States Constitution is the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment has been disputed for hundreds of years on exactly of its exact true meaning. The United States Constitution wrote the Second Amendment as “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."…
The Bill of Rights recognizes and protects the citizens of America's’ natural, basic rights. What happens when the rights that the government are supposed to be protecting, begin to be ignored? Fourteen words protect all of our guaranteed rights as citizens of the united states-“...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” That is why gun control violates the second amendment.…
