To discuss the importance of Psychology in our everyday lives we must first understand what Psychology is. The definition of Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental process; however, it can be applied to many other things in life. Everything we do in life is related to Psychology. Psychology is basically the study of who we are, why we are that way, and also what we can become.

Psychology is important in many different ways, one example of why it is so important is, the research that has been done on many life threatening diseases. By using psychology, psychologist have studied diseases such as, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and many other neurological diseases. Today, we know a whole lot more about theses diseases than we did in the past, scientist have even been able to produce medicines that may help victims of theses diseases. Psychology is also very important in the education system. By using intelligence test schools, students can be evaluated and given the correct amount of help that they need in school. For example, IQ test are given to place children in "gifted programs," by using these test these students are ensured that they will receive the best quality of learning at a pace that is just right for them. On the other hand, these test also let teachers and faculty know which students may need extra help in certain areas in school.

Another reason why psychology is important is, the insight previous research has given us. For example, by studying psychology we learn to understand how the body and mind works. An example of why understanding how the mind and body work is, by understanding them we can do the less complicated things in life, such as control stress, manage time, and study more effectively. Another example would be the research done on psychological illnesses. Using psychological research, doctors have now developed medicine and even cures for victims of the illnesses.

Psychology is important to me because it helps me understand myself and why I choose to do some of the things I do in life. Later in life I plan to have a career as a marriage and family counselor; therefore, psychology is very important to me right now. I use the things I have learned to help others around me but also I use what I have learned to make my life easier. By knowing the things that psychology teaches, I have learned to manage my time more efficiently, control my stress level, and be a more all around better person. Psychology is all around us in our everyday lives, it's in our schools, our careers, and in our social life. If it were not for psychology we would not be as advanced in learning as we are today.

Psychology helps people understand each other personalities. It lets their mindset get evaluated. To understand how a person thinks or handle situations are very important to understand. For example, when a girl is a lesbian it is for a reason. It could be because she saw her mother in an abusive relationship with a man do not want to go down the same road or because she is following in her mother footsteps as a lesbian. After being evaluated psychology would state the reason for her homosexuality. When a person does something taboo or inflict bodily harm to themselves people looks at them crazy. Something motivates them to perform them to perform those actions mentally. Psychology answers those questions. The MBTI is a prime example. It informs human beings about their personality, preferences, values, and blind spots. It also shows strengths, weaknesses and leadership capabilities. I never thought a test like that existed.…

Biology is the field that study living organisms. The most important study of biology that has affected psychology in a great deal is the study of human brain. Brain plays an important role in our sensation and perception. It is the mediator that controls our responses to the stimuli and it’s impossible to study the sensory processing without knowing the function of the brain. Also, the finding of the localization of ructions in the brain has helped psychologists to categorize the disorders and improve the treatments. Secondly, genetics plays a major role in Psychology too. In the study of personality, we must consider both genetic and social learning experience to get a good understanding. Studying one alone would not lead to a full explanation. We do even have a separate branch in modern…

Psychology has more than one foundation. It can be found in both biology and in philosophy. "Humans are complex creatures whose psychological experience lies at the intersection of biology and culture" (Kowalski & Westen, 2005). Psychology came to the forefront in early biological studies. People suffering from head trauma were the subjects of investigation into the correlation between the brain and physical responses. It was during these research studies that emotional responses were noticed in the subjects that could not recall the actual memory tied to the response rendered. This is when interest was sparked in the correlation between psychology and biology and further experiments began.…

A second argument that could be used as either for or against psychology as a science is the process of manipulating variables. In normal sciences, for example, chemistry and physics, variables are obviously established when carrying out research e.g. voltage, amps and grams etc. However, when psychologists investigate areas, they cannot establish such things. For example, if they are looking at stress, they may find indirect variables, such as sweat, but they cannot firmly say that this is a direct variable linked to stressful situations. This in turn poses complications when regarding psychology as a science as it is more difficult to establish cause and effect.…
