Impressionist vs. Post-Impressionist

Vincent Van Gogh was a post-impressionist painter, notable for its beauty, emotion and color, highly influenced 20th century art. He struggled with mental illness, and was poor.One of the Vincent van Gogh's famous painting is called, The Starry Night thats known all over the world. Between November of 1881 and July of 1890, He had 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolor paintings, drawings, prints, and sketches. He mostly focused on drawing portraits, including himself and delicately beautiful things like flowers. Van Gogh used portrait painting as a method of introspection, a method to make money and a method of developing his skills as an artist. Since he died, he become one of the most famous painters in the world. Around 1860 and 1880, he decided to become an artist and he remained in Belgium to study about art then determined to give happiness by creating beauty. In Paris, Van Gogh studied with Cormon, then he met Pissarro, Monet, and Gauguin and began to lighten his dark palette and to paint the short brushstrokes of the Impression.Vincent only sold one painting during his lifetime and only became famous after his death. His painting, The Starry Night was made with oil paint. It involves pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil. The painting is mainly composed of stars blazing, the town structures, and a bright crescent moon. It is like a model of a beautiful night. A viewer might imagine himself in the scene, observing the night in peace and amazement. The night sky keeps the viewer’s eyes moving about the painting while following the curves and creating a dot pattern caused by its swirly pattern.
