Itʼs Just Self Disappointment Itʼs Just Self Disappointment " “In iPad We Trust” by Daniel Lyons (Newsweek (2010) v155: p16) Lyons states

2

“Whatever disappointment we might have felt [in Appleʼs iPad] says more about us than Apple”. Lyons is stating that we as ourselves overhype all things Apple and always expect the next cancer-killer or world problem solver. If we are disappointed, we set ourselves up for it. By opening the article with a negative intent you wonder what Lyonsʼ motives are. " Lyons opens advising that Appleʼs iPad is not a magical device and begs the

I question this tactic. I think the iPad is whatever a possible user/purchaser wants it to be. Who is he to decide what is magical and what isnʼt. While i find his research to be first hand at Appleʼs keynote address itʼs more reactionary that journalism. He was able to spend a little time with a pre-production unit on the show floor but has yet to see what the finished product will do and how it will perform. " Lyons also only presented his opinion of the matter, not real research. In

Fred Vogelstein’s essay, “And Then Steve Said, “Let There Be An Iphone,” was surprisingly pleasing for me to read. Although the story seemed to be a more eye opening account of how the iPhone came to be, there was a sense in realization from me the reader. I’ve had heard that Steve Jobs was a stern working man that did not like to take no for an answer. The iPhone would be the golden standard of smartphones if they could present it without any glitches. Unfortunately, during rehearsal there were many errors while practicing to present the product. These men that worked on the phone to watch the practice realized that their jobs could be on the line. To their relief, the demo of the iPhone was a success. After reading this excerpt, I’d decided…

The intended audience of “Apple” is people that just by products for the sake of brand name, although the apples products may be overpriced, they do offer a superior hardware and even a user interface. The apple brand name has now become a trend, and is seen as fashion accessories which may be one of the reasons many people purchase them.…

By launching IPAD, in January 2010, and releasing it into the market in April, Apple introduced a potential new product category in computers which is likely to change the way consumers interact with their devices. IPAD was able to meet a changing consumer need which saw them preferring to ‘swipe a finger across a touch screen’ instead of using a keyboard. More than 15 million units were sold in the first year alone. In a move which surprised many market watchers, Apple launched IPAD2, in March 2011, slightly more than a year after the first IPAD was released onto the market. Surprisingly!, because many marketers would have thought that IPAD1 had not yet gone through its full product life cycle. However, this move by Apple is in response to the changing competitive environment which has seen growth in the interest of tablet computers from competitors. Analysts predict the computer tablet market to treble in size in 2012. By launching IPAD2, Apple has left competitors playing ‘catch up’ in a growing segment with consumers hungry for new products. There are a dozen or more competitors with rival tablets to IPAD2 likely to be launched in 2011 from competitors like Microsoft and Toshiba.…

These build pressure to us in the need of having the latest either phones or computers. Journalist Quester claims, “Technology has infiltrated its way Into our personal lives, our jobs, and into all aspects of business at an alarming rate forcing us to move up with it.” Keeping up with Market Research Technology. We are trying to stay on the same track with the technology today because, it helps us live a more efficient and healthy life, in the business sector and also keeping in touch. Even though, technology can help us discover the three things to happiness, we are convinced that, by going this direction we have the freedom we are seeking, but in real sense, this only hold us back, not giving us the freedom we thought we had. Meaning it is a failure if we continue relying on this notion and we have become dependent to technology which is opposite of…

This statement has no bearing of truth whatsoever. Turn the television on and there are fifty ads for the latest smart device. Today’s populace has almost become competitive of one another, in who has the latest smart phone or I-pad that has dropped. Perhaps Rockwell is referring to the baby boomer generation when making comments regarding this mentality, assuredly he cannot be referring to any other generation, as you cannot throw a rock without hitting some sort of touch screen device in today’s society. He goes on to claim that “But we really don’t mean it.”2 Including this type of flimsy rhetoric does not emphasize with his point, or make the reader feel as they can relate. Instead it antiquates the relevance of an old man complaining about the price of coffee at Starbuck’s, saying well I hate the price of the Grande, however I want coffee so it’s okay. This mentality is not the society norm, moreover to the point that…

In Andrew Sullivan’s essay, “Society is Dead: We Have Retreated into the iWorld,” he explains how people have began to live life in their own little bubble. This bubble is being created by the distraction of the iPod. He backs up his claims with a first hand experience when he went to New York. He describes seeing people and how “each were in his or her own musical world, walking to their own soundtrack…almost oblivious to the world around them (Sullivan 424).” However, Sullivan fails to show credentials in his writing and bases it primarily on his first hand experience. He fails to realize the technological advances that have come forth from the introduction of the iPod. Since then much greater devices have come about including the iPhone. The iPod has been a stepping stone in helping to bridge gaps in communication today.…

Apple shared its experience by giving the user a simple way to open the laptop by just raising the screen, which helps the customers to be able to interact with laptops. The author did not give many details about the weight, length, and thickness of laptop "Macintosh", for audience would feel bored with this information. He also did not use a real laptop in the advertisement, but he used a drawn illustration of the Mac Book Air as he want to convince the audience that the thinness of the laptop is the same as the sheet of paper. Nevertheless, there were some logical fallacies; the advertisement exaggerates about the size of the laptop when they show it as a sheet of paper because it is not the fact. With the help of these elements that was mentioned, Apple managed to sell many lap-tops and increased its revenue. (Dowling, et al)…
