In The Middle Of Whirligig Analysis

At first, he is a lost teenager, just trying to impress everyone he comes across. Brent has trouble finding the most important part of like: self-worth. He lets the influence of popularity and peer pressure get the best of him. Simple, brief decisions such as underage drinking can potentially change a life in the blink of an eye. His one bad decision led to a chain link of other bad decisions. Brent left the party and started driving at the exact same time another girl he didn’t know did. Little did he realize, is that the effect of his choices would be a fatal car crash. Throughout the entire book, Brent’s perspective on Lea and his survival are shown through the whirligigs he builds.
In the beginning of Whirligig, the author reveals Brent’s depression through his first whirligig. After the car crash, Brent is devastated and in shock at what he had committed. Eventually, that led to a depression which controlled all aspects of his mind. Brent
