The End of Life
First of all I would like to say that I think everything was done the way it should have been done. All the nurses and physicians did what they could to keep the hospital running as smoothly as they possibly could. The hospital went through a devastating natural disaster of
Hurricane Katrina. It was so devastating that it was hard to believe it really happened. No one could stop it only mother nature. It happened and it was real. Memorial hospital became like an island of only the hospital as the flood waters rose around it(Anna Pou 60 minutes youtube.com). The hospital lost all power and was running on generators after the power was lost (Anna Pou 60 minutes youtube.com). When the generators started the hospital lost the air condition and left all staff sweating. Inside the hospital temperature rose to around 100 degrees and all staff was running on fumes to get everyone out safely. The staff had to carry the patients down several flights of steps, sweating and getting little to no sleep (Anna pou 60 minutes youtube.com). The staff members were fanning the patients because the patients were hot as well(Anna Pou 60 minutes youtube.com).
There was a certain area of the hospital where all the critical ill patients were that needed a lot of medical attention and help(Memorial Medical Center and Hurricane Katrina
Wikipedia.org). The Doctors and Nurses came together and discussed the plan for these critical ill patients who were rated number three which meant they were in critical condition. The hospital worked this emergency by numbers 1-3(Anna Pou 60minutes youtube.com). Each patient received a number rating their health. Number 1 meant that the patient was able to walk out and needed little to no help(Anna Pou 60minutes youtube.com). Number 2
