The SS. Komagata Maru was a ship that travelled from Hong Kong to Vancouver in 1914, carrying economic migrants who did not like their living conditions back in India. The Komagata Maru incident was an incident in which the Canadian government denied their entrance to enter Vancouver. Upon reaching Vancouver, the Komagata Maru was denied entry with all its passengers due to the exclusion law set by Canada as a way to keep out Asian immigrants. The Asian Exclusion Act was a law that said for a ship to dock in Canada, the ship would have to make a continuous journey from where it started all the way to the country. This meant that ships would not be able to make a detour if they wanted to be able to enter Canada, which would be nearly impossible for the Komagata Maru. The Komagata Maru incident was a long journey, that stayed at the docks for two months with nowhere else to go and when they were sent back to India a terrible surprise was waiting for them that violated at least three human rights in the end.…

Dunbar survives and is allowed to recover properly, receives a citation for bravery, and is awarded Cisco, the horse who carried him, as well as his choice of posting. Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee a historical movie that centers upon two Native American’s of the Sioux paints a picture of the tragedy of the Native American experience during the 19th century. The movie centers upon Sitting Bull a Native American chief and Charles Eastman a Native American whose education occurred outside the villages of his people. Splitting its narrative between the two characters, the movie coincides with one of the tragic incidents in the Native American history when the Sioux Indian tribe first succeeds at the Battle of Little Big Horn and later is slowly devastated by American Governments violation of signed treaties, and subsequent movement to reservations culminating in the massacre at Wounded Knee Creek. In the case of Leonard Peltier, his arrest and conviction were the result of the atmosphere of fear, anxiety, tension, and violence prevalent in the cultural and historical contexts associated with the murder of the two FBI agents. The video Incident at Oglala describes this atmosphere, highlighting previous events that had built up the tension between the Native Americans on the reservation and the surrounding community and pointing out that the Native Americans were fearful because of the mistreatment they had received at the hands of Wilsons local government and also because there were hundreds of unsolved murders on the reservation. As one of the speakers on the video indicates, although the federal agents appeared not to be aware of it, for strangers to come driving onto the reservation with guns was an invitation to be shot, given the fear that was felt on the reservation at that time.…

The obvious problem with Centralia No. 5 is that an explosion killed 111 people. However, prior to the actual explosion, the problem is less obvious, especially since Centralia No. 5 was similar to so many mines that did not explode. In this analysis, I will examine the possible roles and responsibilities of Driscoll O. Scanlan, the mine inspector, given the "corruption of modern administrative enterprises" prior to the accident. From this perspective, the perspective of a public official in the field, the problem is that a potential danger exists and the regulatory machinery in place to address the danger is ineffective. As an expert, Scanlan recommended that the mine be "dusted" with non-explosive, pulverized stone to diminish the possibility of the coal dust's exploding. However, his expert advice alone was not enough to motivate a response.…

A few examples of the inacurate moments would be that in the film it was stated that Frank Abagnale had wrote 10 million dollars worth of bad checks and was on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted List. When in reality, Mr. Abagnale had only written 2.5 million and he was never on the Most Wanted List due to the fact that the FBI mainly posted violent criminals on the list, which he was not. The FBI agent, Carl Hanratty was one of the characters who had gotten merged from several FBI agents who had been involved with the case. In fact, it was an agent by the name of Joseph Shea who had captured Frank Abagnale. Mr. Abagnale did serve time in France, Sweden and the United States, and was given twelve years but only completed a total of five years. Another case of innacuracy is Mr. Abagnale remained in contact with his father, Mr. Abagnale Sr., because the director, Steven Spielburg, believed it would make the film better if they stayed in contact. When in fact Mr. Abagnale did not keep in contact with his…
