Oman has been hiring housemaids from Asia and Africa for over 20 years. They are recruited to assist families in their house chores as well as to help the disabled, elderly and children. Many Omanis approve of bringing housemaids into the country to help families in their daily chores, with many Omani women opting for jobs, the housemaids have become indispensable for the common house hold here in Oman.
Objectives
*To find solutions to reduce the number of housemaids crimes.
*To raise awareness of the causes and effects that makes housemaids commit crimes.
*To find out what people think about housemaids.
Causes
*Many families 100% depends on maids in everything (Multi-tasks), they will be under presser and wouldn’t have enough time to rest.
*Some families are not humane and they don’t respect their feelings and treat them badly.
*When they get jealous from a family member.
*Disrespected and noisy children make them feel uncomfortable and angry.
Effects
*Multi-task leads maids to take revenge by many ways such as burning cloths, breaking things in propose and poisoning in food.
*Murder is the most likely way that they use to revenge for bad treatment and specially use it on children and old people who can’t take care of themselves.
*Housemaids tend to steal jewelries, phones, clothes and money, so they feel equal with others.
*One way housemaids use to deal with disrespected and noisy children is by beating and abusing children.
Results of survey
A survey was give to 10 people.
* 90% of people believe that housemaids are important when only 10% thinks that they aren’t.
* 20% agree that the disadvantages of the housemaids are more than advantages when 80% disagree about that.
*60% believes that housemaid’s background affects the crimes they do when 40% disagree that their backgrounds affects the crimes they do.
* 100% of people disagree that all housemaids are bad.
