Prior to the formation of the Autolatina JV, both VW and Ford had long been investors in Argentina and Brazil. Both companies had major vehicle-manufacturing subsidiaries in the two countries. Each of these subsidiaries, in turn, had a number of subsidiaries of its own, engaged in financing or in component manufacturing. By 1985, Ford and VW operations both had something in common: they were doing poorly financially in a bad economic environment.…

India suffers from the problem of overpopulation. The population of India is very high at an estimated 1.27 billion.[1][2][3] Though India ranks second in population, it ranks 33 in population density. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, had implemented a forced sterilization programme in the early 1970s but the programme failed. Officially, men with two children or more were required to be sterilised, but many unmarried young men, political opponents and ignorant, poor men were also believed to have been affected by this programme. This program is still remembered and regretted in India, and is blamed for creating a public aversion to family planning, which hampered Government programmes for decades.[4]…

Indo-Russian relations refer to the bilateral relations between the Republic of India and the Russian Federation. During the Cold War, India and the Soviet Union (USSR) enjoyed a strong strategic, military, economic and diplomatic relationship. After the collapse of the USSR, Russia inherited the close relationship with India, even as India improved its relations with the West after the end of the Cold War. Traditionally, the Indo-Russian strategic partnership has been built on five major components these are, political, defence, civil Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with Russian President Dmitry nuclear energy, counter terrorism cooperation Medvedev at the 2008 G8 Summit in Hokkaido. and space.[1] These five major components were highlighted in a speech given by the Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai in Russia.[2] However, in recent years a sixth component, economic, has grown in importance with both countries setting a target for $20 billion in bilateral trade by 2015.[3] The powerful IRIGC is the main body that conducts affairs at the governmental level between both countries.[4] Both countries are members of many international bodies where they jointly collaborate closely on matters of shared national interest. Important examples include the UN, BRICS, G20 and SCO where India has observer status and has been asked by Russia to become a full member.[5] Russia also strongly supports India receiving a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.[6] In addition, Russia has expressed interest in joining SAARC with observer status in which India is a founding member.[7][8] India is the second largest market for the Russian defense industry. In 2004, more than 70% of the Indian Military's hardware came from Russia, making Russia the chief supplier of defense equipment.[9] India has an embassy in Moscow and 2 Consulates-General (in Saint Petersburg and…

The culture of India refers to the religions, beliefs, customs, traditions, languages, ceremonies, arts, values and the way of life in India and its people. India's languages, religions, dance, music, architecture, food, and customs differ from place to place within the country. Its culture often labeled as an amalgamation of these diverse sub-cultures is spread all over the Indian subcontinent and traditions that are several millennia old.[1] Several elements of India's diverse culture, such as Indian religions, yoga, and Indian cuisine, have had a profound impact across the world. Pakistan and North Indian States follow the medieval Indo-Persian culture, exemplified by it's musical, culinary and architectural designs like the Taj Mahal, while South India is largely independent from foreign influences — three of the four languages classified as classical languages of India belong to the Dravidian language family, namely Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.…

A fresh study by a group of international scientists peesh confirms the dominant role of Saraswati river in sustaining the so-called Indus Valley Civilisation. [28] A new study titled, ‘Fluvial landscapes of the Harappan civilisation’, has concluded that the Indus Valley Civilisation died out because the monsoons which fed the rivers that supported the civilisation, migrated to the east. With the rivers drying out as a result, the civilisation collapsed some 4000 years ago. The study was conducted by a team of scientists from the US, the UK, India, Pakistan and Romania between 2003 and 2008.[29] While the new finding puts to rest, at least for the moment, other theories of the civilisation’s demise, such as the shifting course of rivers due to tectonic changes or a fatal foreign invasion, it serves to strengthen the premise that the civilisation that we refer to as the Indus Valley Civilisation was largely located on the banks of and in the proximity of the Saraswati river.…

On this day, it was January 26, 1950 we declared our country as a Republic country by adopting our own constitution. Actually, thepreparation of our constitution was over earlier than this date but we choose January 26 for this, because this date has its own significance earlier than this day. It was January 26, 1930 on the bank of river Ravi, our freedom fighters pledged to attain "Sampurna Swaraj" and started new agitations to make India freedom from the British Rule. So, on 1950 on this day we declared our India as a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic.…

It is easy to tell whether a person is raised in India or in North America by his or her knowledge of their Indian culture. Those who have been raised in India have a lot of moral values, because everyone around them shares the same culture. Those who have been raised in North America may lack certain moral values because not everyone shares the same culture. Some people think that those who have never been to India may not know the Indian culture, but that is definitely incorrect. Knowing the Indian culture depends on the parents and how well they teach their children about their culture. For me, my mom was the one who taught me the differences between the Indian culture here in the U.S. and the Indian culture in India. When my mom told me about the culture in India, I thought it was way better than here. However, the Indian culture here in North America is much more open-minded because it is not only one culture, but one or more cultures mixed together.…

Marginalisation affects a large part of Indian society, who are subjected to loss of rights and mistreatment due to their place in the caste system. In the novel Q&A by Vikas Swarup, a street boy, Ram Mohammad Thomas narrates the events of mistreatment and abuse in not only his life, but several others characters with the same fate. Throughout the novel, the experiences of Ram, Salim and Nita are told, contributing to the privileging of social, gender and religious marginalisation in Indian society as foregrounded by Swarup.…
