THE INDIAN RAPE
I – Recall of the facts
India became the center of many debates few months ago, a gang rape which became famous all around the world thanks to the horror of this act that finished into the death of the victim.
On 16th December 2012, a 23 years old student went out with her boy Friend in South Dehli and decided to go back home by bus. The woman’s friend became suspicious when the bus took another way than it was used to. He asked the driver and the 6 men on board started talking to them, asking what they were doing alone at this late hour. Her friend tried to intervene but he was stopped, beaten, gagged, knocked unconscious with an iron rod by the gang. Then they decided to attack the young woman, they dragged her to the rear of the bus and used the same rod and raped her one by one; the driver was still driving.
The worse in this story remain the fact that the bus met many checking points during the way and no one intervened in this gang raped.
After the beatings and rape ended, the gang threw both the victims from the moving bus, they were found by a passerby, unconscious. When the police came, the woman received an emergency treatment and was placed on mechanical ventilation. She had only 5% of her intestines left and had terrible damages. On 26th December, she was transferred to Singapore for important treatment where she died on 29th December.
The death of this woman by a gang rape in New Delhi has set off a fresh wave of national grief and outrage.
Many public protests took place in Delhi, where thousands of protesters clashed with security forces against the situation of Indian Women. Similar protests took place in major cities throughout the country.
