Furthermore, once suspects are taken into custody, they are identified, finger printed, and rehoused in jail until their hearing. Suspects will be giving a court date when they are booked into jail, at that hearing the suspect will see a judge and be arranged. Moreover, as a result of that hearing the suspect will be informed of their charges, and may be offered a bail amount in order to be released while the judicial proceedings are underway (Jain, 2015). When suspects enter the correctional, institution there are services available to them, from getting released to attorney services.
Furthermore, there are many important aspects of a suspect’s arrest, like their financial status when they are arrested. Once a suspect is in custody, there are avenue of services that a suspect may be offered once they have been processed. They will need an attorney to proceed with them throughout the entire case, while charges are being filed against them. There are ways for defendants to be able to fight the case and still have freedom. In fact, according to (“Lecture 1, 2016”), depending on the inmate and his or her circumstances, might be able to be released on their own recognizances. On the other hand, there are inmates that cannot afford to pay for an attorney nor their bond. Bail, in which is where there is a bail agent that is putting up the money in order for the inmate to be released under a promise that they will appear to court (Bail, 2002). All inmates are fortunate enough to bail themselves out, so they have to post bail through a bail bondsman.
Moreover, as stated previously when defendants are booked into jail, they personal income status has an effect on what they are entitled to.
Meaning, those that are indigent when they are booked into jail do not have the funds to pay for their bail or their attorney (Public defender, 2016). No, just because an inmate is indigent status does not affect an inmate’s right. As a result of the inmate being indigent, they automatically have to be appointed an attorney or the government will assign a public defender. It is against the law, for an inmate to be held for even one day without being appointed counsel. The charges brought against the suspect can result in jail, or prison time, and that will require attorney. In sum, after watching those television shows mentioned above would have a person thinking that an arrest is it.
That is obviously not true placing the bad guy under arrest, is not it there is much more to the process. This analysis gave light as to the details that comes with arrests. It discussed what else does happen when suspects are arrested and booked, the services that they are offered to them in regards to their release or the charges filed against them, and whether their indigent statues affect his or her rights while they are
incarcerated.
