Leadership is a complex process. According to Gill, there are six themes that we can connect to what we call good leadership. These are the following: vision of a desirable future, upholding a clear goal or undertaking, sympathetic ideals, good and smart strategies, empowerment, motivation or encouragement. There is a wealth of research that shows that Mark Zuckerberg manifests these qualities, acknowledging him as a great leader.
Mark has a number of achievements that can be credited to him. At an early age of 12 years, he developed a type of software called Zucknet a messaging system with Atari BASIC, which his father, used regularly in his dental practice. Later on Mark also create a number of computer games out of interest. While in school, he also showed that he was indeed a good leader when he was appointed the school captain. Academically, Mark was also a great achiever, after showing good results in literature which led him to be awarded with a Diploma in Classics.
While at Exeter Academy, his inspiration to be a great achiever helped to develop an early version of music software which he labelled as Synapse. The most notable of Mark’s achievement is when he co-founded Facebook, a social networking website that is now a multi-billion dollar company. It was during his sophomore year at Harvard when he created Facebook; the social networking site that now connects over 600 million people worldwide.
