Individuality Vs Conformity Research Paper
“The price of being a sheep is boredom. The price of being a wolf is loneliness. Choose one or the other with great care,” said Hugh MacLeod who stated that individuality and conformity are two unpleasant decisions we all as humans have to make. However, is MacLeod correct? Is individuality and conformity truly a matter of picking between two poisons? Is one better than the other? Lastly, is there a perfect balance between the two? My personal thinking suggests that individuality and conformity played and still continues to play an important role in the history of the human race; however, in certain situations, too much of one of these characteristics can have a drastic effect on a person or the people around them. It is important for us as
a society to educate ourselves about why people conform to one of these two personas as well as finding the healthy middle between these two extremes.
