INDO - US CIVIL NUCLEAR DEAL:-
The following is the text of Indo-US Joint Statement issued after the delegation-level meeting between the Prime Minister, Dr. Man Mohan Singh and the US President Mr. George W. Bush, in Washington DC on July 18, 2005.
“Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh and President Bush today declare their resolve to transform the relation ship between their countries and establish a global partnership. As leaders of nations committed to the values of human freedom, democracy and rule of law, the new relationship between India and the United States will promote stability, democracy, prosperity and peace throughout the world. It will enhance our ability to work together to provide global leadership in areas of mutual concern and interest.
Building on their common values and interests, the two leaders resolve: * To create an international environment conducive to promotion of democratic values, and to strengthen democratic practices in societies which wish to become more open and pluralistic. * To combat terrorism relentlessly. They applaud the active and vigorous counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries and support more international efforts in this direction. Terrorism is a global scourge and the one we will fight everywhere. The two leaders strongly affirm their commitment to the conclusion by September of a UN comprehensive convention against international terrorism.
The Prime Minister 's visit coincides with the completion of the Next Steps in Strategic Partnership (NSSP) initiative, launched in January 2004. The two leaders agree that this provides the basis for expanding bilateral activities and commerce in space, civil nuclear energy and dual-use technology.

Andrew J Potter looks at the emerging relationship between the newly independent Republic of Indian and superpower that was the United States during the Cold War era in his book, Comrades at Arms: The United States and India, 1947-1964. It is, however, the angle from which he decides to look at this relationship that is most interesting. Rotter decides to look at this budding complicated relationship from a culture angle as, in his own words, “Like the rest of us, policymakers and diplomats do not shed their values, biases, and assumptions at their office doors. They are creatures of culture, and their attitudes cannot help but shape the policy they make.”…

Zakaria suggests America reevaluates its role in the international system to be able to produce foreign policies that will enable US to adapt to the new era. The task for today is to construct a new approach for a new era, one that responds to a global system in which power is far more diffuse than ever before and in which everyone feels empowered (Zakaria 231). Zakaria suggests that there is a need for change in America’s foreign policy, but the foundation is sound. America should not be concerned about being overthrown since many developing powers are joining, and not fighting America. Developing nations like China and India, “want to gain power and status and respect, for sure, but by growing within the international system, not by overturning it” (Zakaria 232). Thus, America should not response to the emerging countries with force or in a negative manner. Encouraging diplomatic relations and opening new economic trade relations with all of the emerging powers will foster a prosperous global environment and consolidate the American ideals in global…

While many will agree that Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is critically acclaimed to be one of the most entertaining and well-liked pieces that he has written, there tends to be a discrepancy over how the characters in the play are portrayed when it comes to the importance of gender roles. After reading James C Bulman’s article over the Globe’s more recent performance of Twelfth Night and Shakespeare’s original written version, I realized that there are many ways that this famous piece has been portrayed and each has its own pros and cons.…

The Ultimate Search of the Good Differentiating ethics and morality can be easily confused as they both relate to the right and wrongs of living. Ethics focuses on good character and the good humans try to achieve, meanwhile morality tends towards the path that guides humans to the good as duty (ISG 8). Philosophers Immanuel Kant, Aristotle and Emmanuel Levinas approach ethics in three different ways yet all three revolve around the Catholic expectations of being an ethical and moral human. In the movie, Crash, character Officer Ryan experiences situations that requires the code of ethics and morality to react accordingly, to deal with the problem at hand. The responses to his experiences shows that Officer Ryan has ethics but acts unmoral…

This was the first visit of an Indian Home Minister to Israel, since June 2000, marking an upsurge in bilateral co-operation. It also signified a major shift in India’s foreign policy away from Palestine towards Israel - a country which has always taken an uncompromising attitude towards all acts of terror. Mr. Singh’s visit came close on the heels of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi’s meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister Mr. Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September.…
