The Industrial Revolution was a time of drastic change in America. The Industrial Rev. began from the 18th to the 19th century where major changes in agriculture, transportation, and factory jobs have changed and also creating the positive and negative effects.
The British Agriculture Revolution is considered one of the causes of the Industrial Revolution . Agriculture had stopped the British economy for centuries. During the 18th century new farming systems created an agricultural revolution that produced larger quantities of crops to feed the increasing population. When rich landowners made profits they sometimes invested in industry. A efficient agriculture supported a larger urban population. But the agriculture revolution had some effects on us too. While fewer needed to grow more food other farm workers were put of work. Many could not afford the high costs of things or the new tools. This means that some of them lost their farm, and had to become agricultural labourers without owning land of there own. In some places the poor were actually driven from the countryside which led to them having to seek work in the growing towns and cities in factories.
Life in the factory was most challenging in the Industrial Revolution life. The factories were dirty and dangerous. They didn’t have any laws for the minimum pay or safety issues. The workers were paid low salaries that could barely cover their costs of living. Their hours were long and they were not permitted any breaks. The managers and owners were very strict and if the worker was caught wondering off or slowing down they were punished. One positive effect of the Industrial Revolution was urbanization. Urbanization was when cities were built because of all the jobs the factories were offering. Many people wanted these jobs and went from farms to these new cities. They needed homes for these new homeowners so they quickly built make shift
