Cities bring pride, unity, as well as consumer goods in large quantities. Living in a city will make for a simple life when compared to living in a rural area. Readily available goods, homes, and jobs can easily be found in urban areas. Cities are the first to gain new technology and fashions. They also make for a separate government and economy, which allows a citizen more say in their surroundings, taxes, and laws. Without cities, people would be scattered across the land and would not have access to as many resources.
Competition allows consumers to control the prices of goods by choosing what to buy and where at. Companies must strive to win the customers over by using a number of different methods. Quality, price, and service are the three main factors used in competition. A good consumer will check out more than one location for their desired product and make an informed purchase. Without competition, people would be forced to pay unreal prices for goods.
When the Industrial Revolution began food shortage was swelling and it was just impossible to feed everyone within a nation. However, when multiple new types of agricultural machinery and methods were introduced, food production increased immensely and it was now possible to feed an entire population. In modern day, food supply is at a surplus in industrialized countries, and can be purchased at a relatively low price. Without such methods starvation would a fear and pain experienced in everyday life, to a large percent of the population in a nation.
It is now apparent that my position outweighs that of my opponent, which proves the Industrial Revolution was a benefit to society by creating cities, competition, and increased food supplies. I can predict that in the future all the problems of industrialization will be overcome and that the entire world will enjoy the benefits of the Industrial Revolution.
