Inelastic Collisions
In conclusion, there are noticeable differences between an elastic and inelastic collisions. Such as, in an elastic collision the total kinetic energy remains the same before and after the collision, even if the ball has a larger mass. When the two balls collided and the second continues going or the balls go opposite directions, the kinetic energy is conserved after the collision by remaining .25J. On the other hand, inelastic collisions change the total kinetic energy after the collision. When the two balls, with the same mass, hit the initial kinetic energy was .25J and after the collision it changed to .16J.

It happens about 100 times a game in the National Football League: a bone-jarring tackle that slams a player to the turf. On the play shown in the photo above, Seattle Seahawks defensive back Marcus Trufant (23) drilled Philadelphia Eagles receiver Greg Lewis (83) with such force that Lewis couldn't hang on to the ball. (Seattle won the Dec. 5, 2005, game at Philadelphia 42-0 in the most lopsided shutout ever broadcast on Monday Night Football.) Incompletions and fumbles aren't the only consequences of such tackles. More than 100 concussions are recorded each season in the NFL. Given the size and speed of today's athletes, it's surprising that more gridiron warriors aren't carried off the field on their shields. For that, they can thank high-tech gear that protects them from the physics at play in the sport's fearsome collisions.…

The conservation of momentum can be a huge effect on the cars, so the conservation of momentum states that when there are no other outside forces like friction the total momentum of the objects interaction does not change. The amount of momentum before and after the collision will be the same. If this is the case then the momentum of the first car, mass times velocity, does not change the momentum of the second car if the second car is at rest so the second car would have the same momentum as the first…

Collisions: In an intense steal from first to second base, or second base to home, many skilled base runners attempt to topple over their opponent to get called safe by a field umpire. This collision is considered an inelastic collision because the defensive player tends to fall on top of the offensive player sliding into them when they then both move forward toward the base. The initial velocity of the defensive player is 0 or at rest, and the initial velocity of the base runner is some value.…

Speeding, races, collisions and careless driving are all the things we would see if we did not have rules, regulations and appropriate point systems. When you are driving a car you have to understand that there are other road users on the road and when you are driving erratically, you are risking not only your life but the other road users as well. The Demerit Point System and The Ontario Regulation regarding street racing, contests and stunts are what keep the streets free of these drivers.…

The law of conservation of energy states that the total amount of energy remains constant in an isolated system – energy can neither be created or destroyed, but can change from one form to another. In this analysis, a ball is thrown above a motion sensor and data is collected for distribution into 3 graphs; position of the ball vs. time, velocity of the ball vs. time, and acceleration of the ball vs. time. The purpose is to prove the law of conservation of energy during this free fall of the object. It should be understood that to prove this law, the experimental value of ‘g’ (for gravity) as solved in x=v₀t+½gt² should be comparable to the gravitational constant of 9.8 m/s². The law of conservation of energy relates to real-life situations, such as when a tennis ball goes from hitting one racquet to another, or when a construction crane swings a wrecking ball into a building. The total energy in these systems remains constant, even though it seems energy is “lost” – in which it is not lost, but changed from kinetic to potential or vice versa.…

    V. Conculsion: Firstly, by acting on the popper, inverting it on itself, you are applying elastic energy. By setting it on the ground you are giving it the potential energy it needs in order to combine with the elastic energy and thus cause it to revert back to its original shape, launching it off the ground. While in motion gravitational potential energy is acting on it, converting potential energy into kinetic until it finally comes to a stop upon collision with the ground.…
