It is clear that there are many inequalities amongst the inmates in Mexican prisons. Disabled inmates for instance, are not provided with accommodations in order to allow them to earn good conduct credits. This being said, “people with disabilities have a constitutional right not to be subject to arbitrary or irrational exclusion from the services, programs, or benefits provided by the state” (Mental and Physical Disability Law 2002). Mexico fails consistently with providing inmates access to public services and programs in order to allow disabled inmates to have the same opportunities as those without disabilities. Most prisoners do not even get equal opportunity to be employed (Drago 2011). They are forced to sit and wait out their sentence. Following this into greater depth, there is inequality amongst the mentally unstable in prisons, and as a result, where are increases in deaths in prison (Mental and Physical Disability Law 2002).
