Alan Kwasman, a Board Certified Pediatric doctor, claims that to become a doctor, one needs people skills, the ability to listen, and thoroughness. Dr. Kwasman supports his claim with reasoning on why doctors need certain qualities, examples of hard-to-distinguish diseases, and stories about his work, including one about a teenager who he diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease, much to the astonishment of his family. The purpose of Kwasman’s speech is to take a stand in persuading the audience to the fact that doctors are needed and should not always be blamed for accidents, as (mostly) they always try their best. The pediatrician spoke in an understanding and calm voice, with his speech made for the general public.…

Julie has had many memorable experiences helping patients, some better than others, and will continue to have many more. During an interview she stated that delivering a baby in the elevator, was the most memorable experience from her job, which would be very memorable for anyone. Like every career there are advantages and disadvantages to being a doctor. The job is very well paying; Ahmed Ali makes $100,000 a year and owns his own practice. He says that the job is very rewarding and there is nothing more rewarding than saving the life of a patient (Michael, Interview Ali). The disadvantages to working in the…
The amount of time doctors spend on the paperwork for insurance companies to deny payments, can also lead to the decline of the reward, which can make the job of a doctor unpleasant. The task set for the worker is very wretched, due to the fact that the amount of paperwork done by doctors for insurance companies can lower the time spent with patients. The reward of the doctor [money] is one of the weakness’ for the reasons of earning a healthy income making the task…
A moment of laughter can make a difference in one life. Patch Admas made is patient’s laughs and lifts their spirit up and made them feel like the still have chance of survive. Patch Adams also said that physicians and clowns consider humor and friendship part of the cure in any healing process. When a doctor/nurse develop that friendship with their patients there will always be laughter between the two when they meet. When kids are little and are afraid to go to the dentist some dentist create a fun atmosphere so that that child can field at home all at a game and they will feel happy and that scary feelings will go away and they will be calm. Being angry all the time is not even healthy for your body it can get you stress out and raised your blood pressure up. When you don’t have a good spirit in some sickness you has less chance of surviving. In most diseases like for example cancer patients if they don’t have that laughter that they get when their family or friends are around the cant survived. As a doctor or nurse when their family, friends, or love ones are not around it should be your responsibility to make they feel like they are. As a doctor or nurse your job shouldn’t be strictly a job that you are doing for money take it as your way of living and treat your patients as your own family. Embraced your patients, always make them feel at home let them be comfortable. Knowing what medicine to give your patients doesn’t make you a good doctor but the way you treat them will always make them come back to you. These are some of the reason people have family doctor because they are used to that doctor and know that the doctor will treat their family the same way he treats them. People love when people listen to them so when a doctor listens to them it makes them feel like they care.…
The hardest part is that she is always away from family, she’s had to learn and is still learning how to manage work and family life. Being a doctor means she’s always on call, and has had to miss birthdays and holidays due to her job. It’s even more difficult being active duty military, Matos just got back from a six month deployment. She says, “(that) as my kids get older I can only hope they understand and are proud of the work I do, in the same way I’m proud of them.” Even though the job has its negatives, the positives more than offset it. Matos stated that the best part of her job is being able to help the patients and their families, that there’s a feeling of reward that you get when you see a sick patient finally walk. Her true love is education, after growing out of wanting to be an actress as a kid, she wanted aspired to be a teacher while in high school. She never saw herself become a doctor or joining the military. She didn’t grow up with family in either occupation and had no idea what to…
The third paragraph is a little harder to understand. I am not sure what you are talking about when you mention the "doctors in their morning coats." What is a morning coat? I suggest you add some more to this paragraph to make your meaning clearer to the reader.…

Before this shadowing experience, I knew that pursuing a career in medicine is something that I was interested in, but I never had a real experience to examine a typical doctor's life. After the first week of shadowing, I started getting a sense of what it is to be a doctor. Becoming a doctor is not something easy. Every time I went to the office, there was a big list of patients that doctor Eloy had to meet. He had to be careful about the way he acts and the way he talks with patients, nurses, and other doctor. Even though it seemed so hard at the beginning, I enjoyed this experience and I learned a lot from it. I learned that being a doctor requires more than going to medical school. Medical school is just the first step. I learned that a…
To begin with, it is shown in many different ways that Dr. Nolen wanted to inform his reader of the issues a young doctor faces. Dr. Nolen writes with an urgency and a sense of a ticking clock, as shown in his frequent usage of measurements of time. “He could have tied off all the vessels in two minutes. It took me twenty.” (149) Therefore, the reader can infer from the selection, that the work of a surgeon is difficult and stressful, as a surgeon is racing against time as he or she is operating. The dangers of going over time are prominent enough to extract much needed confidence, for an efficient surgery, from the heart of an amateur. Dr. Nolen wants to inform the reader on the challenges a young surgeon faces, such as forgetting how to perform a certain task, stressing over how much time is left and trying to impress a senior advisor. Dr. Nolen forgets how to perform this simple appendectomy. “...for the life of me could not decide where to make the incision.” (147) It is apparent, that Dr. Nolen wanted to exhibit the obstacles of a first-time surgeon.…

I used this principle first hand today when I was visiting the mom that I work with and her son. Mom has had a very hard time changing her son's diaper from time to time because he is now at that age where he is very curious and active and desperately wants to explore the world. Needless to say, he does not want to lie still for more than a couple of seconds. I shared this principal with her today and when I went to change his diaper, I talked to him before hand when I picked him up and explained to him what I was going to do. I talked to him like I would any grown child during the whole process and he was very intrigued with the conversation. He was making his normal sounds, his way of communicating the whole time I was changing his diaper. We had a very interesting dialogue going on but it did show that you could capture their attention while…
There are many things Nason enjoys about her job, one of her least favorite aspects is firing personnel, in fact she listed it as one of her greatest hardships. So far in her professional career she has only had to fire personnel 3 times. She also “hates” numbers, so the computing part of her job is also something she dislikes, such as making spreadsheets for the insurance denial reports. However, the majority of her job she thoroughly enjoys. Nason likes that her job is something different every day--she has the opportunity to speak with people all over the world as well as traveling through the entire country. She also mentioned how she enjoys being listened to CEO’s in hospital--she strives not to be a burden to them, but rather endeavors to help the hospitals be successful.…
