I would stop during my reading to emphasize on mood, and feelings of the character in the story. After the reading, I would ask the student to write the words I have written on the board. I would write the words again with them by saying out loud the letters in the word being written. Assessment The next day, to see if the students have learned from the introduction. I would give the students a copy of the book and ask assessment questions like: “Can anyone show me a letter? A word? A sentence? The title? The end of the sentence (punctuation mark), the back and front of the book? I would read the story again and model the student to follow me as I read. At the end of the story we would discuss, what happen? Who were the characters, and which part of the story you like?
