Informational Interview Analysis Report

Introduction

Last summer, I had the opportunity to be referred to Ms. Sharon Goldmacher by my long time family friend, Ms. Judith Williams. While talking to Judith I was introduced to Ms. Sharon Goldmacher. She started a full-service marketing PR firm specializing in brand development, product launch campaigns, media relations, as well as providing marketing, PR, and promotion services. We have met once, however, I never go to formally speak with her. The interview is mandatory in order to get information for my Basic Marketing Management class, but I ended up learning so much more than what was required. As expected, it was a great opportunity

We conduct marketing research to connect and understand what our clients’ various target audiences are seeking in terms of information, services, products, etc. Last year, one of our clients Cousins Properties used marketing research to provide them with added customer insight around the Avenue. It (The Avenue) is an outdoor lifestyle center concept with eight locations throughout the Southeast. We encouraged Cousins Properties to conduct a series of consumer surveys before they went on redesigning the website for the (Avenue) brand. The surveys have made Cousins Properties become more tuned in to customers’ needs. In addition, we also helped Cousins Properties uncover patterns on customers’ use of social media and other information that help them continually deliver what their customers want. For example, we took advantage of the viral component of Facebook to develop and Affordable Luxuries Facebook contest as an extension of the Cousins Properties’ holiday advertising campaign, growing the company’s fan base from 90 to more than 1,300 in three …show more content…

    As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center.     Through the advancement of technology in today’s modern era, society has moved increasingly deeper into a digital world, changing the face of marketing communications. A variety of marketing communications tools have been utilised by marketers in order to achieve their objectives, through the provision of information to consumers about their offerings as a means of persuasion and to affect their buying behavior (Shimp & Andrews, 2013). As society continues to develop into the digital age, many studies have highlighted the effectiveness of social media as a marketing communications tool. Social media, although relatively new, is one of the many tools in which marketers can engage with consumers by leveraging on social networking sites where consumers are increasingly present (Luigi, Oana, Mihai & Simona, 2011). Studies conducted even before the inception of social media suggest that there are advantages of interactivity with consumers, as it allows for the greater understanding of a company’s target market, consumer engagement and empowerment, which in turn can increase a company’s returns on investment (Bezjian-Avery, Calder & Jacobucci, 1998).
