You shouldn’t come across too many pixies due to their location and rarity but I have chosen to teach them to you as part of this lesson due to their long history and rivalry with Fairies. Other names for Pixies are pixy, pixi, pizkie, piskies and pigsies.

The pixie used to frequent many areas in the world however due to ongoing disagreements and wars with the Fairies, they are now mainly found in England. They mainly populate the Moorland areas of Devon and Cornwall. This is why they are now commonly called ‘The Cornish Pixie’.

It is believed that Pixies have been around nearly as long as Fairies and were once well known to both Mortals and Sorcerers. Mortals with disabilities would find help from pixies if they were lost, although due to their mischievous nature, they would sometimes lead more able-bodied mortals astray. The common term to be ‘pixie-led’ means to be sent in the wrong direction and it hails back to these times.
In fact, pixies do not have any magical abilities themselves but instead, they rely on ‘pixie-dust’ to create the illusion of magic. They are fond of dancing and music.
