The pixie used to frequent many areas in the world however due to ongoing disagreements and wars with the Fairies, they are now mainly found in England. They mainly populate the Moorland areas of Devon and Cornwall. This is why they are now commonly called ‘The Cornish Pixie’.
It is believed that Pixies have been around nearly as long as Fairies and were once well known to both Mortals and Sorcerers. Mortals with disabilities would find help from pixies if they were lost, although due to their mischievous nature, they would sometimes lead more able-bodied mortals astray. In fact, pixies do not have any magical abilities themselves but instead, they rely on ‘pixie-dust’ to create the illusion of magic. They are fond of dancing and music. There have been tales of mysterious music being heard across Dartmoor in Devon in the dead of night. They are also fond of horses and ponies and can sometimes be seen riding the wild Dartmoor ponies.
Pixies have heart shaped faces and pointed ears. Unlike their Fairy counterparts, Pixies are considered to bring you good luck and good fortune. There were many more tales of Pixies before the turn of the eighteenth century, but since then, pixies have kept themselves to themselves, preferring to live quietly and away from human-kind. Pixies live in stone circles or barrows which is a mound of earth usually found over
