Informative Essay On Texas
One of my greatest fear’s are spiders and snakes, because I think they're so gross with their eight creepy crawling legs and their big eyes and slithery bodies. When my mom or I see a spider you better be out of our way because we are deathly afraid of them. In Texas there are spiders that can kill you if you don't make it to the hospital fast enough. They are called Black Widow’s. What's bad about Spider’s living in Texas is that my dad (Keith) , my older brother (Cole) , my step mom (Janice), and my step sister (Jenna) live their. They have poisonous snakes in the lake that my dad lives on. They are called Water Moccasins. Water Moccasins are snakes. Since Texas has a lot of poisonous animals I’m constantly scared something has crawled

Along with being found in the same habitat the Bobwhite Quail and Texas Horned lizard are both found at the bottom of the food chain. These two animals are prey items for a very wide array of animals. Bobwhite nests are commonly predated upon and this is why the nesting cover aspect of the habitat management is so important. Habitat managers are now even able to determine what animals are predating Bobwhite nests by how the eggs are broken and/or arranged after being eaten (Hernandez et al 1997). A well known avian predator, the Roadrunner (Geococcyx) is known to eat just about anything including Texas Horned Lizards and Bobwhite Quail eggs making it an arch enemy of many ranchers (Sherbrooke 1990). One of the most brutal predators these animals face is the Shrike (Laniidae) commonly called the “Butcher Bird”. This is because it impales its prey onto barbwire, cactus,…

While reading the chapter As Texas Goes, So Goes the Nation by: Gene B. Preuss, I found it concerning to learn that we as students, and teachers must subject ourselves to an overindulging of historical content to adhere to the history standards legislated by SBOE. I agree that teaching history today is overly complex and far to detail for the students to keep. This being said, students are failing to grasp important information about our countries history. The students have been caught in the cross fires in the battle over the standards and are not able to keep up with the broad state standards that the SBOE has adopted. I can sanction that the standards confirm what I am reading and discussing in class because of the nature of the text in regards to TEKS standards.…

The Texas and U.S. Constitution are by far the two greatest documents ever created. Reason being is that the U.S. Constitution was thought up by some this countries greatest men, and the Texas Constitution well it has the word Texas in it so that alone makes it great. However even though these two documents are great in their own respective ways they are in fact different and similar in some very interesting ways.…

Hi, I’m Alex Venable. One thing that I fear are alligators or crocodiles. When I was little I always enjoyed watching this TV show that had two guys that would feed and wrestle alligators. One night the show wasn’t on so we did some research and found out why it wasn’t on. One of the guys had an accident and lost one of his hands. Following this event, they ended up shutting the show down because he was going to be unable to return and his co-host decided to quit the show also. This then caused me to have an irrational fear for alligators. My dad is the reason why I love cars. He has taught me everything I know and continues to introduce me to new things and experiences. We enjoy spending time together by doing at home work projects such as…

Fear has a unique way of taking over our entire body, well at least it does for 20 year old Mason Lee Childress. Since the begging of our relationship he has had no problem showing how terrified he is of spiders. Regardless of their size, they could be no bigger than a bottle cap, and he’d still run the other way when coming across one. I’ve asked him how long he's had this fear towards spiders, and he began to explain how he wasn't always afraid of them until he was around 6 or 7 and blames his sibling for it.…

Slimy, rotten pumpkins scattered throughout the patch drew in a few crows. They were as black as a moonless night and their beady little eyes appeared as if they did not have a soul. The crows made this awful kakaw noise that reminded me of a scary movie I had watched when I was younger. Obviously, the handmade scare-crows made out of hay that encircled the pumpkin patch were not scary enough to keep the crows away. As I got closer to one of the rotten pumpkins I noticed tiny black spiders crawling out of one of the holes, they seemed to…

In four short years, Missoula, a college town in the state of Montana, experienced a leap in the number of campus rapes and sexual assaults reported to the police. Very few victims and accusers were taken seriously by the local police department or the university. The prevalence of this epidemic is appalling and apparent in not only college towns, but the entire country. The only way to curb this problem is to bring light to the issue. By requiring college students to read and discuss Missoula in school, students and teachers will be more inclined to come forward and report their abuse while simultaneously giving other victims a voice. Meanwhile, people that have raped or will rape in the future will become aware of their actions and the punishment.…

Maman is a monumental steel spider, so large that it can only be installed out of doors. Supported on eight slender, knobby legs, its body is suspended high above the ground, allowing the viewer to walk around and underneath it. Each ribbed leg ending in a sharp-tipped point, and attached to a collar above which an irregularly ribbed spiraling body rises, balanced by a similar sized egg sac below. The meshed sac contains several white and grey marble eggs that hang above the viewer’s head. Generally speaking spiders are strongly alarming with their effect on people. They can awken differing emotions, from past curiosity and playfulness, to terror and fear.By looking at the image of the sculpture, at first I had a feeling of slight anxiety, as a child would, if they could not see their mother. Then when I saw her eggs I felt a strong, safe, maternal presence, a positive energy directed on me. Also when i look at the sulpture many questions come to mind fro instance did she first sketch it and if so where did she sketch it , did she personaly build it etc...…

When I’m dreaming multiple scenarios are put into my head, some of them made me so horrified all I remember was being scared rather than the actual dream itself! Others, were so confusing and twisted that remembering it made my hairs stick up, giving me goose bumps. In Marvel’s classic Spiderman movies, Peter Parker got bit by a spider, to be honest getting bitten and gaining powers is one of the last things I would dream about. My dreams always had some demonized, possessed, ring to it that always troubled me when I woke up. When I was in the fifth grade, I had this dream I would never forget. I was cleaning out my garage and I walked down the driveway with a box that weighed a hundred pounds. When I placed it down it had no label on it, making me instantly wonder what was inside, after all it was so heavy. I carefully lifted a flap and out sprung a spider, and then another, and another, until there were so many they began to pour out like water overflowing in a bathtub. I ran and crawled back, but I was too late one spider the size of blimp had clenched on to my legs, it pinned me down and stared at me. That’s when I woke up, panting, still feeling it’s fuzzy boney legs rubbing against my skin. Dreams, are the evilest of all, with this fear my mind generates some of the most scariest situations enabling me to…

When I was seven years old, I was lying on the couch reading a book while my dad was watching television. I saw something moving, out of the corner of my eye, and as I turned my head to see what it was, I saw a huge daddy long legs trekking over the cushions, six inches from my face. I screamed and leaped off the couch, crying for my dad to come kill the creature. He told me to calm down, picked up the spider by one of its legs, and threw it outside. Ever since then, I have been terrified of spiders.…

The fear of spiders is also known as arachnophobia. This is a phobia for those who have been affected by a spider in some way or another. It is not the fear of the spider but the possible risks of a spider bite perhaps and its side effects. This kind of fear can sometimes prevent us from an unpleasant situation or situations. Not everybody around us may experience this fear, otherwise we would not have entomologists or people who study arachnology or even zoo keepers who handle insects for a living, but for those who do have this fear have an associated learning experience. This paper narrate about the informal learning experience leading to the fear of spiders. Informal learning is an unorganized form of learning with no precise set of objectives; the learning is unintentional and is perceived from surroundings and interactions. In the information discussed in this paper the fear of spiders occurs because of the inability to know whether the arachnid is potentially poisonous or life threatening, I was told as a child to stay away from areas that had a lot of dirt mountains or areas that were filled with a lot of wood pieces by my mom because she had once been bit by a spider herself and had a phobia of spiders but I did it anyhow. Once my sister and I were out playing in the desert area behind my grandmother’s house and suddenly out of one of the holes that was in the dirt mountain came out a tarantula the size of a small Chihuahua puppy. It started crawling at a miraculous speed given how big it was and we began screaming for help because we were afraid to move thinking it was going to crawl up onto us. This informal teaching has taught me over the period to stay away from the wood and dirt filled areas. The experience has in fact taught me to become extra cautious in areas of this sort. The fear of spiders can be acquired through classical conditioning as per (Brewer 1974,p.27) “ there is not and never has been any convincing evidence for unconscious, automatic…
