Specific Idea: To inform my audience about changing a tire
Central idea: Knowing what tools to use, how to change a tire, and different alterative you have if you have a flat tire is important to any driver.
INTRO
I. How many of you guys have a car or drive a car? Have you guys ever had a flat tire? Did you know how to fight that problem or do you just call for help?
A. Sooner or later it will happen to most every driver. You are driving along with your mind on important things to do on your agenda and you have a flat tire.
B. According to an article in U.S News by Jason Koebler two thirds of young adults do not have knowledge in basic car maintenance such us changing a tire.
II. Many drivers prefer professional assistance when it comes to car problems but some day you may be in a situation where you have to do it yourself. …show more content…

Before starting to change a tire, you need to know what tools to use and where are they are located in your vehicle.
B. If you do not know where this tools are is a good idea to visit your car manual as soon as possible.
III. After locating all your tools you need to know how to change a tire.
A. There is a process to change a tire, is not rocket science but is something that you don’t what to mess around with.
B. Is not hard or impossible to anyone but many people do not know or do not what to learn.
IV. If you do not have all the tools or just do not what to change your tire you have another alternatives that might what to consider.
A. Today a days we have a large amount of women driving and sometimes it might be hard for some of us to change a tire.
B. Well in this case there is different things that may help us.
V. Today I will be informing you guys in what tools to use when changing a flat tire, how to change flat tire, and other alternative you might have.
BODY
I. Identifying what tools to use and the location of this tools is one of the first steps to take if you what to change a flat tire.
A. According to Pep Boys website to fix a flat tire you must have a car jack, jack handle, lug wrench, and a spare tire.
1. The Jack is a tool that is used to lift heavy items, the jack handle is a handle that goes into a jack is a heavy bar that you either crank or pump up and down, and the lug wrench that is used to take off the nuts that hold the wheel.
B. Something you also need to check before changing anything is if your spare tire is in good conditions.
1. Make sure the spare tire is inflated properly, if it is flat you might what to try something else.
C. According to the website DMV.org some other tools that might be useful to carry will be flashlight with extra batteries, Gloves, matt to kneel on, plastic rain poncho, and a fix-a-flat spray.
II. As I already mention before, changing a tire is not hard but is really important to do it right and do not take it as a game.
A. According to Progressive insurance website the first step is to pull off the road.
1. Is important that you are safely out of the traffic and turn on your emergency light.
B. Second step would be to gather all the tools listed above that you will need to change your tire.
C. Third step is to loosen the lug nuts using the lug wrench, sometimes the lug nuts are hard to loosen, if the ever happen try jumping on the lug wrench to loosen them,
1. Something important to keep in mind is that you do not what to remove them, you just want to loosen them.
D. Next step would be to jack up you vehicle, this is the fun part, you place the jack under your car in the correct place (you can check that on your cars manual), then you lift the car until the jack stops or until the tire is about six inches off the ground.
E. Next step is to make the change, remove the lugs and put them aside, is really important you do not lose them.
1. Grab the tire at the “nine o’clock” and “three o’clock” position and pull toward you.
2. Then, put your spare tire directly in front of the wheel and align the holes with the bolts on the car.
3. Next step would be to lift the tire and position it on the bolts, push the tire onto the car as far as you can, replace the lug nuts on the bolts and tighten them.
F. Next step would be to lower the vehicle and put tools away.
1. Lower it until the four tires are well place on the floor.
G. The last step would be to fix or change your spare tire.
1. Is really important to always carry your spare tire on your car, you never know when an emergency might come.
III. Other alternative you might have before calling for help would be to carry a fix-a-flat spray, or if you already carry one that would be better.
A. According to the fix-a-flat website Fix-A-Flat Aerosol Tire Inflators are the cheapest and quickest way to repair a flat tire in an emergency.
1. Fix-a-flat is tool that can be carry in every car since it takes very little space and everyone can use it.
2. I believe that this is a tool that everyone should carry in their cars because you never know when an emergency might happen, is better to be prepare all the time.
3. This is the easiest tool to use because you just “connect, inflate, and go”.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, now that you know what tools to use, how to change a tire, and other alternatives you have before calling for help I hope that you guys get that initiative to learn a little more. Is better to always be prepare for any emergencies.
What that being said I hope you guys learned something new and hopefully you will start thinking in how to solve problems by yourself before calling for help.
