Many people love to shop, but there are some shoppers who become too aggressive. The Black Friday shopping frenzy has become so intense that you can’t enjoy shopping. Shopping can cause aggression and sales like Black Friday only make the matter worse. Within the last decade, there have been 10 deaths and 105 injures. Though Black Friday may seen as awesome, it can cause stress and anxiety because people are worrying about what to buy and they don’t see what’s happening to them. Black Friday is the the second to the last week in November. In 2015, 74.2 million people shopped during Black Friday,, that is the lowest participation since 2011. Only 87 million people shopped in 2014. 92 million in 2013, and 89 million in 2012. About 35 million people shop on Thanksgiving Day.
Black Friday has been around since 1932, so that makes shopping on the Black Friday a tradition that is 86 years old. Black Friday starts the Christmas holiday shopping. Most people start their Christmas shopping on Black Friday. Black Friday is one of the busiest times of the year because people get deals on Apple products, clothes, TVs and other expensive items. In 2016, a shopper opens fire, killing one, over a Walmart parking spot in Reno, Nevada. In 2013, a man was stabbed during a Black Friday event at a mall in California. In 2013, a shopper carrying a TV home from Target got shot in Las Vegas by a thief. Shoppers lose rational thinking when they see good deals. The hype behind Black Friday fuels people’s desire to buy. It starts with television ads, newspaper ads, and instore marketing that builds up to the day after Thanksgiving.     Since the advent of microfinance banking in Bangladesh in the mid 1970’s, several countries have copied this financing model. The seeming popularity of this model among developing countries is predicated on poverty reduction prospect it offers. The Nigerian government cued into this popular thinking in 2005 when it inaugurated the microfinance banking scheme. This was founded to provide finance to economically active poor excluded from financing by conventional banks, provide employment, engender rural development and reduce poverty. This paper theoretically examines the challenges these banks have had to grapple with from their inception. Furthermore, it scans the business environment to assess the prospects of microfinance banks in Nigeria. The paper shows that microfinance banking in Nigeria faces enormous challenges in infrastructural inadequacies, social misconception, poor legal and regulatory framework, unbridled competition from other financial institutions,abandonment of core microfinance function and paucity of qualified manpower. Despite this plethora of challenges, the study identified several areas where opportunities exist for these banks. The growing entrepreneurial awareness, increasing government interest, large unbanked rural area and high population of poor people were identified as some of these opportunities.
