This topic was appropriate for this particular presentation because the assignment was to write an informative speech about a local, historical civil rights issue. I succinctly spoke about the 1964 civil rights murders that took place in Philadelphia, Mississippi. I presented the topic in a very formal and informative manner, which I feel was fitting for the setting and the correct way to handle the topic for the audience. My target audience was the group of my classmates who were sitting and listening to my speech. To target and make the speech relevant to my audience. I used strategies we learned in class. Specifically, I began my presentation with a question and then asking my audience to answer, and I related to my audience by saying like me they most likely thought they knew everything …show more content…
I did utilize all four elements that we were asked to include. My attention getter was a question for my fellow classmates, and the entire class responded to my question. This strategy effectively had the class engaged with what I was saying and helped to focus their attention. I paused for a sufficient amount of time after asking my question to allow my fellow classmates to answer; however, I did ask specifically for a show of hands which may have left my audience wondering whether they were actually meant to answer the question or if it was rhetorical. We have these alleged inalienable rights that let us express ourselves in many ways and anytime anyone displays the use of these rights people get outraged. Lately we've been going through this movement, Black Lives Matter Movement, and people have been protesting, but not getting very good results until now; when a Famous Football star decides to sit during the national anthem. This sparked a monumental debate topic that needed attention and this topic even got presidential eyes on the matter. If he wouldn't have made a statement that got through to everyone, then no one would've paid attention.…

Within each and every one of us, there lies a very distinct and recognizable force that urges us to take action. It brings forth a feeling of which we all are unmistakably familiar. Big or small, we all have felt this feeling. It is felt it in the midst of a crisis when the safety of life is the only thing at mind. Or when vigilant confrontation arises, and the truth must be heard. It moves within us in situations of less dire consequence too, like when the alarm sounds on an early morning and the blood in your body seems to have frozen over completely solid, throughout the course of the night. Your limbs feel too stiff to get up, yet the alarm does not cease to sound on and remind you of what must be done. The call to move remains the…

This week I read an article on three ways to define “Target Audience”, I found this article to be very interesting because it was not too long and was very informative. For instance, Kivi Leroux Miller stated that marketing and fundraising that tries to reach public, really reaches few people at all. She also pointed out that the public includes newborns, elders, rich and poor, very wealthy and even homeless. She says that even if you wanted to you could not possibly reach all these people, so the best thing to do is focus on those people who matter to you becoming successful.…

I don’t disagree nor do I support Kaepernick’s actions. I think if he wanted to prove a point and make a statement supporting the “Black lives matter” he is wrong to do so by sitting for the National Anthem. By sitting for the national anthem he is disrespecting all the men and women who have fought to serve our country. But he is wrong by saying “black lives matter” and so is Hillary Clinton by saying it too. It’s not just “black lives matter” all lives matter.…
