What are the causes of Rett Syndrome?
I. Rett Syndrome is caused by a mutation in a gene. This gene is called MECP2. According to NIH, the gene controls the functions of many genes and is needed for brain development.
II. Rett is a genetic disorder but less than 1 percent of cases are inherited according to NIH website most cases of Rett are in fact random.
The possibilities of a cure?
I. While researches are still hard at work figuring out a way to cure this disease there are no known cures. But there treatments to help with some of the symptoms.

i. Help with feeding and diapering ii. Physical therapy to help prevent hand problems iii. Weight bearing exercise for those with scoliosis iv. Supplemental feedings can help with slowed growth
