Another disadvantage to the Trust Act is that it will send a message to the global community to come to the state of California illegally and you will get documentation and protection. (Beadle)
C. Another disadvantage is that many law enforcement agencies, including those in Los Angeles, Santa Clara and San Francisco counties, already have adopted policies similar to those in the Trust Act. And immigration officials, who are not subject to the state law, can still detain and deport people following federal guidelines. (Goldman)
D. An advantage to this legislation is that it will prevent the detention of up to 20,000 immigrants a year by federal authorities mostly in rural parts of the state.
E. Another advantage is that it would no longer target those arrested for minor crimes for deportation. (Planas)
F. Another advantage is that it’s based on crimes, charges, and felonies that is on record and not speeding tickets and whatnot. (Pollak)
II. Second, the differences between the previous legislation and the current Trust Act have advantages and disadvantages.
A. An advantage to this new legislation than the old one is that it’s more precise.
B. Another advantage is that it helps calm the protestors that ask government officials to do something to help the people than argue.
